Best way to wire up boost gague?
Best way to wire up boost gague?
Got my glowshift mechanical boost gagues today. What's the best way to wire it up? If possible id like it to be able to dim with the dimmer knob along with all my other gagues.
Also, would tapping the vacation line that comes off the intake mani be best? The same line most people seafoam their car from to be specific.

I have my mechanical gauge in the same spot as the OEM one, i just cut the plug end of the stock one and spliced into the aftermarket one. there is a post on here somewhere stating what colors do what. 1 was ground, 1 was lights and the other two i taped off. and I ran my vacuum line to that hose you are describing
run a positive wire from the windshield wiper fuse in the fuse box.
then run a negative wire from anywhere that is a ground.
pretty easy stuff. if you look behind the clutch pedal there is a little rubber grommet that you can pull out and get access to the engine bay. run your vacuum hose through there.
ps the reason i say windshield wiper fuse is that that fuse only gets power when the key is in the on position. thats how i have my radar and boost gauge wired in. i too have an rpd. i just got it back a few days ago.

You could pull out your dash and with a test light find which output from the dimmer switch is the dimmer then tap into it. I wouldn't think it would hurt with one extra measly light pulling a few hundred milliamps of current. Unless ofcourse our dimmer output is digital which I don't believe it is.
so i ended up breaking my zzp gauge pod... whoops. lol
anyway i figured out the wiring. it comes with 4 wires (but 2 are basically the same, theyre for if you want to make it into a switch)
i tapped the power wire to the RPD and grounded the negative on the a pillar bolt. the last wire is for dimming, so i just tapped the dimmer switch. lol. works like a charm..... other than the fact that the wire taps i used sucked ass and the gauge wouldnt stay on the whole time.
anyone know the best stuff to use to tap the small wires?

taps just suck ass man you have to like use a pair of pliers to bite down good and its hard to find good small ones ;/ its always a pain in the ass but it is do able if you don't want to open any wires up
yea ill get to it when i get my new gauge bezel.
anyway, heres a little vid of how much boost im running. if the gauge wasnt reading low it would touch 30psi.
