Big boom
So, while driving a few minutes ago , shifting from 2nd to 3rd I hear a huge boom... Car goes into limp mode and that's all... Theories are cracked ic blown charge pipe (don't think it's this as I checked) or blown cat... Really have no idea but never heard that noise before... CEO came on a while later I will scan in the morning... Thoughts??
They actually aren't that bad... They can take a considerable amount of boost... They just run into problems when you knock them against parking stops and such... It will torque the end tanks and kind weaken them before they crack. But that being said... an all metal intercooler would be better.
ya i havent personally had mine break but living wear its cold they get more brittle and are more prone to breaking under high boost, but yes a metal IC would be perfect
Red that is exactly what I'm talking about... Just a little crack goes a long way as far as letting boost leak out
Haha I was in Canada last month in Whistler, BC. It was like -10*C at night and during the day at the summit. It was cold as a witches tit in a brass bra... The coldest I have ever felt was at the top of Mt. Bachelor in Central Oregon, where I'm from more or less... IT was -40*F, factoring in windchill.. It was -10*F and the wind was blowing like 60mph at the top of the mountain... It was literally insane.

Yea if you can get traction while the road is that cold and covered with packed snow and ice... I was driving a rented supercharged, AWD land rover up in canada... I was flogging that beast all around whistler and if I didn't have AWD I'm sure I would have killed myself and my friends. It was fun though.

Yea but when I was driving I could barely hear the SC unless the go pedal was on the floor... I scared a few of my buds listening to the beautiful whine. I'm saving for one. I'll toss on a straight exhaust and a tiny pulley to make the go fast rover go a little faster.
haha they sound even better with an intake and exhaust, a doc that used get his serviced there had one with a K&N on it and a badass exhaust...there sooo expensive to maintain though its a bummer

So I got the Maf code p0101 . guy at advanced was dumb and couldn't reset cel so I'll go again to see if code comes back . If it does come back what does that mean? And my rod shows zero boostunlike what I've heard most people goin to 5 in limp mode...
That is in fact a MAF code. I was getting it while running a BOV without relocating the MAF sensor. It was a sign of a metered air loss due to the BOV. Makes me think its almost positively a boost leak somewhere.
