The cold and/or any rubbing of the condensation bar on curbs or anything really, snow, your ex-girlfriend that you ran over last week... Any moving of the IC like that will cause stress on the end tanks.

one thing I think we tend to overlook sometimes, whether we think about it or not.. is the weather... if its really cold out, all that plastic tends to tighten up.. connection ends, piping, etc, even if you let the car "warm up" the difference in temperature can sometimes have an effect when things are expanding fast... so you "may" have had some thermal breakdown, being as you are from Maryland, and its been pretty darn cold, under higher boost it could have caused a failure if there was a pre-existing weakness in the internal structures of the piping, metal to plastic components or whatever... just another consideration but one I think sometimes is overlooked as a possibility. Just my two cents...

Any pieces of plastic get in the intake system?

That ZZP charge pipe is a nice solid piece, not sure why people over look it when buying a charge pipe?

Did you buy couplers or take apart the stockers?

Not THAT big. It's eerily similar to my blowout however:

That's why I went when I saw yours. We had the same blowout basically.

Mine blew on a 3rd gear pull. A BOOM followed by a couple backfires, low oil pressure light and a flat bed later and I was home. Car would start and then die. The shitty thing is; I was a mile and a half from home. Go figure.

I wonder if there is an outstanding or inherent weakness in this design then perhaps if this location seems to be the "weak point" for blow outs... hmmm makes for a good case to upgrade right away, especially if you live in colder climates.. or for those who just can't keep their foots off the gas in the cold!

That point is the highest pressure point in the IC design. Looks like a combo between the pressure and cold weather tightening up the plastic. That is what I'd expect to see torture testing an IC. Kinda like dumping boiling water on a frozen glass, the contrasting temperatures put serious stress on plastic, combined with the psi, kaboom. You can get the same effect with metal end tanks along the welds.
