Blown engine

Yesterday, there was a big flood where i live. I drove in water deeper than i though and my motor locked. Went back to where it stalled this morning to empty my cylinders of water and saw that my coolant tank was empty and there was oil/coolant dripping down on the side of the engine. What do you guys think would be the best option for me to do? i don't think my insurance will pay anything. Is there any engine i could put in for about 3k. Or should i try to replace the damaged parts?

Call your insurance company and ask. You might be surprised. I'd order a crate-motor, otherwise.

i would call your insurance, it goes under act of god, and they should take care of it. if you want the car totalled, i woulkd hose down the interior too. (work at a shop in IL, we get water flooded cars towed in all the time)

I guess it doesn't hurt to ask but I'm pretty sure act of god means a tree falling in the car or a flood. Not driving into a flooded road and hydrolocking the engine which was his choice.

If the water went over the rocker panels it's totaled. Insurance typically will pay for flood damage from what I've seen.
