Boost Gauge Going Backwards

My bud has an 09 LNF with the boost gauge and recently it's been messing up.

No matter how hard you punch it and get the boost going the gauge goes backwards. It'll chill on the vacuum side around 5-10 and then you go and it spins the wrong way (technically saying negative boost/high vacuum) It is boosting since you obviously can hear it, feel the power and the engine isn't throwing codes or going limp.

I have a video of it on my phone that I'll post up soon once I find my SD card adapter.

With what I've given can anyone give me any incite on whether the gauge went bad or if it's a bad wire or line?

From what I've read your vacuum should be around 20 inHg at idle. Could this possibly be the major issue and what could be causing a vacuum leak?

That's definitely a new one for me. Maybe it's boosting SO much that the needle swung all the way back around!!!! lol

It has to be a crossed signal somewhere if it's on the stock gauge. I'll have to see this vid when you post it.

I'll get that video up asap, just got a ton of yard work I have to finish so it'll be later tonight.

But for real, so much boost I feel like Woody riding RC in Toy Story 1. lmao.

Gotta make it half or full screen since the quality was bad due to night time and converting over from my phone's format, needle spins backwards once I punch it.

Any ideas?

I believe this gauge gets information from the MAP's, so I'd guess one of them is bad.

Has he ever taken the guage pod off or done anything to the gauge itself?

It's possible the two wires that go the guage are reversed. If its not that it could be something more computer related causing the issue.
I would start by reversing the wires and seeing if that is the issue.

Worked perfectly when he bought it then a few weeks ago he noticed it doing this. The only thing he's done since buying it was a headlight rewire the week after he bight it since the kid before couldn't wire for ****. I cleaned that up and didn't change anything. No problems with the car running that could have thrown it off so I'm assuming electrical. If it does get information from the MAPs and one were going bad wouldn't that cause other issues as well?

Try logging it yet? Seems like if it was happening mechanically that it would be audible.

Will it not show boost at all?

Is the car slower.

Nope, don't have the equipment to log at the moment and it's not throwing any codes. Yeah, a mechanical failure would be noticeable.

Shows no boost on the gauge but you can hear it spool and she still pulls like it used to before the gauge went ka-put. No performance loss, as far as we can tell.

I wish you lived closer. I could let you borrow my extra set of MAP sensors to try out.
