basically they do the same job but a bypass valve recirculates the air. you can do this with some atmospheric bovs such as the hks synapse etc. Then you have the few that vent straight to the atmosphere such as the tial(best by far) turbo xs and greddy. basically the problem is on these cars is the location of the bovs and mass air flow sensor. they blow off after the air is already been read by the computer therefore causing the computer to run question where the air is going. also causinga slight rich spike until the computer corrects itself. the cars have been known to bog. im working on something to possibly correct this but theres no guarentee right now that its going to work. regardless you will need a tune. if it does then its going to be great for our community being theres a lot of people that want to run bovs but if not then it was worth an attempt. ill let everyone know whats going on in the upcoming month.

on a maf car you ideally don't want to run an atmospheric bov.. --- like the wrx/sti for example.. these cars want a recirc bov.. they run like **** with atmopsheric. I'd stay stock for bolt ons and a tune... it works more than fine and saves you money

bpv is a bypass valve..... personally i think a atmosphereic bov is better but like its stated about its NOT needed. theres like a million threads on this topic though do a search and you will probablyl find all your answers.
