BOV removal

Hi All, I recently purchased a 2009 SS/TC. The previous owner had put on an intake (K&N SRI), 3 in. straight pipe from the cat back, and a Forge BOV.

I want to get rid of the BOV. From what I have read (after searching through an overwhelming amount of info) the BOV is not really needed, and may actually be hurting the car.

I talked with the original owner on here, and he said the cars never been tuned, which tells me I should probably get the BOV off the car as soon as possible.

I am not going to lie, I know next to nothing about the Turbo car, but am trying to learn.
So, is there any help you can offer me? I tried to find a how to on either installing or removing a BOV but didnt find one.

I would hate to think I am hurting the car. I have never driven one stock to know if performance has suffered, but my MPG's certainly do blow. I am averaging mid 20's, and that is with no hard driving. If anyone has any advice or suggestions, I would appreciate it. I DID try searching for this and came up empty handed, so if a thread like this exists and I missed it, my apologies.

Thanks in advance!

Are you talking about the Forge by pass valve attached to the turbo or an actual blow off valve on the charge pipes? Because I have the forge BPV and it just replaces the stock BPV, its better quality in my opinion and will not hurt your car.

Well, when I had it checked out the dealership specifically said BOV. Also, thats what the first owner called it. Unfortunately I have no idea what it looks like to tell.

He said BPV not BOV.

So, no harm in having the BPV on there? I wish I new more about these cars.

Forge bpv is an upgrade from the stock one so you're ok.

No, the forge BPV does the exact same thing as the stock bpv. You don't need a tune or anything for it and it doesn't hurt anything. Some people on here do run blow off valve set ups, but apparently its a tuning nightmare. It took me a while to learn about these cars, but if you look around the site you will find out a lot of info.

Thats good news. When it comes to aftermarket, this is the first time I have bought a car with the parts on it already. The orig. owner took really good care of the car, and he seems like a straight up guy, so I have no reason to question the quality of the work and the parts other than the fact that my own paranoia knows that I am not the one who put them on there.

Is there anything I should check for? Or anything I need to know imparticularly about that specific part?
I just want to make sure the car is running as well as possible.

Its got:
K&N SRI, 3 in. straight pipe from the cat back, and a Forge BPV.

Also, it has what I am guessing is 20% tint all the way around.

Thanks for the info guys. I know I am being paranoid.

I think the first think I am going to do is to find a new trunk lid. I am not a fan of the coat hanger, and prefer the wingless look.

I will do some research on the BPV and educate myself as much as possible.
