brembo issue
brembo issue
Has anyone had any issues getting the pins outa the top of the front calipers? Apparently my car has seen way too many 130-60 stops on the highway bc my pins are seized lol. I work at Autozone so I priced out calipers and there only 70 a piece but the vendor is outa stock and the hardware kit pins are too short so I can't even drill them out my brakes are pretty warped and im surprised they've lasted 62000 miles someone help plzzzzzzzzzzz
Ps. I haven't been on here in awhile so if this is a repost im sorry

i was dumb, and in a hurry to get it done. went to the dealership. was 100 some odd bucks. afterwards i found this Brembo Caliper Pin Kit 08 09 Cobalt TC 25900781 - Crate Engine Depot
Mallett and brass punch. Push the retainer clip down or have soneone hokd it for you. Then put on your man pants and go to town. No reason they should be seized.
Try spraying it down with some brake dust cleaner before hand. Or pb blaster (or similar) and let it soak overnight

I've never bled 4 piston calipers before lol

Late to the thread but I did this last winter and had a b!tch of a time also. I had a thread with pics on GMSC.net, but the pics are gone now. I tried everything including a punch and 3 lb hammer with the caliper on a wood block on the floor before I got the bastards out in pieces. Ended up drilling the last one piece out after cutting them off flush to the caliper with a carbide wheel.
New pins from CED.
Anti-seize the new pins and to all out there, if your car sees salt in the winter, anti-sieze the pins now.
Take out the spaces in the above URL.

Guys,
Our pins have a little rubber collar on them that holds the pins in place. If you have lots of hard braking and the calipers are exposed to lots of heat, the rubber collars can melt and seize into place, causing the pins to be siezed.
Trying to punch them out only results in bent pins most times.
Buy a pin kit from crate engine depot, cut the pins in half while still installed, and use a small butane torch to heat one end slightly, punch it out, and then do the other end.
I had to do mine at 36,000 miles, after a couple of hard auto-x days and a near accident which caused me to heat the rotors to a glaze and almost catch my pads on fire.
I did pads, 4 rotors, and a 2 pin kits. Next brake job the calipers will get sandblasted and be treated to a rebuild kit.
