Broke a Lifter today!
so after my dyno run monday my solstice has been sounding like a Subaru, it just wasnt right, after i got back from the dyno i pulled the plugs to see what was going on, and the #2 coil disintigrated as i removed it from the head. i thought that was the cause of the strange sound for sure, but today after i replaced the coil it was still doing it, so i decided to pull the valve cover and see what i could see, and shure as $hit, the lifter for one of the #1 exhaust valves had broken off and the cam follower was laying in the head. i replaced the lifter and now no more subaru.
it was acting really wierd on the way to the dyno so i think i dynoed with a broken lifter, and broken meth injection, now i dont feel as upset that it made 330hp 360tq @5400. now i just need to figure out why its breaking up after 5400rpm. im tuning spark plug gaps right now. .032 is what im trying now. ill see how that works. then i gotta fix the meth

Sexy looking solstice. If I were you I'd get the street edition headlights, I think it would go along real nice with your black wheels. It was the best visual mod I did on mine
0.032 should be a decent gap. That's what I gapped mine at after my ZFR swap.

Thank you, ive been looking for those headlights for a while, crate engine depot had them for a while but they say they are sold out now. im probably going to have to dissasemble mine and paint them.
You make it sound like changing the lifter was so easy.

Also, just invest in a new lash adjuster. They're cheap enough new. Don't bother with buying something like that from a junk yard.
Thanks guys! I'll be on this project this Thursday. Also anyone have a clue why I might have oil being pushed out my charge pipe like crazy a lot and out of my oil fill area? The whole thing started happening after my car started sounding like a Subaru. I would burn a lot of oil through my exhaust!
It's not blow by. It's crazy compression from my engine. I was told I should do a leak down test and see what's up. That's when I noticed the lash adjuster broken. Could the broken lash adjuster cause the rest of the cylinders to misfire and make oil be pressurized out of my oil full cap area?
I found the broken lash adjuster when I took the valve cover off. My car started sounding like a Subaru and it was throwing oil like crazy out of the engine. That was why I took the cover off. Now when I took the cover off I had found just pieces of my lash adjuster on top and my lifter just laying in the head. I was able to pick up a new lash adjuster today so I'm hoping I could put this together tomorrow. Only question I'm having right now is, would fixing that lash adjuster fix my oil problem?
No the broken lifter shouldn't affect anything else, I've seen them happen on local cars and there were no adverse effects aside from the slight power loss and exhaust note change. You have another, more serious problem.
Your problem sounds like exactly what YelCal7 went through. He broke an adjuster and his timing skipped. The broken adjuster may not cause serious issues like ItalianJoe1 said, but it's very possible your timing chain skipped nearly the same time that it happened. Get the new adjuster, and while you're there see about verifying your timing chain.
After that, check on the oil issue. It may or may not be related.

Thanks guys I'm really hoping that it will run fine after fixing the lash adjuster and thanks ok the heads up with the timing. I've gone through hell with pouring money into going to separate shops to get this fixed.

Did you check your timing?
Blow-by is the gas that gets past the piston rings. A small amount is unavoidable and is taken care of by the pcv system. Too much blow by can overwhelm the system and come out of the dipstick. This can be caused by a cracked piston or a malfunctioning pcv system.

You simply remove the front cover on the engine.
No need to remove the engine to check timing or to time it.
