Cali's sucky gas
Cali's sucky gas
Everyone knows we have some ****-tastic gas out here, even our 91 is worse than EVERYONE else's, well I was with a guy whose turbo'd 2.4 solstice was built by WERKS, and he lives out here now(car is awesomeeeee and fun to drive) and he said he adds some 100 along with his 91. I'm thinking about doing the same thing. Thoughts?

Well considering how little I drive it, it shouldn't be too bad which is why I consider it. I maybe fill it up once every 2 weeks, and that's with it only getting to 1/4 of a tank.
Lol I wanna ride in your car.

no way. not only is torco outta business now, but additives tend to be little more then bottles of diluted toluene.
the car is miles away from having a fuel system that could push the needed volume for e-85.
while i'm not a fan of e-85, for a laundry list of reasons, its not bad stuff. its core benefits truly do lie in the simple fact of how much fuel mass you have to use. its cheap tho....

It's not. You can't just pour some fuel in and mix and match. You would have to know exactly how many gallons of 91 are in the tanks, and exactly how much 100 you are putting in, and keep the mix constant if you're going to tune for it. If you're not going to tune for it, then there's no point.
Methanol would be easier in the long run to be honest.
Besides, why are you worried about the 91? Your car runs fine on it, as does mine. Your clutch doesn't hold the power you currently have anyways

the advantages(everything thats is awesome) outweigh the disadvantage(cost)
if you cross into leaded fuels, we have to make some adjustments. but an unleaded 100/102/104 octane would be spot on babe!
Never doing leaded fuel lol, would it be ok if say I tried it out for like a month?
I know where you can buy C16 in 5 gallon cans for about $35
You're catless, the only downside would be that you have to replace o2 sensors more often haha

higher octane will smooth out any car, as random burst knock is often eliminated.
while tuning from it will allow for more power to be made, the instant effect of higher octane (how ever small it might be) is more power as a whole thru the rev range.
maybe not peak, but at spot(s) in the rpm band in which the car is pulling advance due to KR
if i tuned her car with the map i use out here for 94octane, a mix of 100+ octane and pump 91 would sustain an average above that value for some time. as long as the car isnt ran till empty with the high-test stuff in the tank.
much like your strong dislike of turbos Will, my hatred toward meth is huge!
I've seen kits with a controller / sensor array that cost more then my car go bunk on a engine stand and cook a motor.
sure, plenty of people love and use the stuff, but plenty of people also thought hydrogen being used for lighter-then-air travel was a good idea.....
and.....well........we know how that ended.....

id say it takes me about 2-3 solid tanks to cause a 02 sensor slow response, so maybe double that to "kill" an 02?
i never went that far.
shooting for LMT and MBT, i'd bet we hit those on 100-104 octane.
a good hotspot on a piston, plus some "extra" push from the driver, can and does kill pistons.
