Term2's a busy guy... but to answer your question, fuel trims shouldn't change enough to matter as long as nothing leaks.

I've been thinking of using an SRI (modified of course) in conjunction with the Stock airbox, basically to eliminate the cavitation issues of the AEM silicone coupler. any thoughts?

AEM needs to replace that huge silicone piece with a piece of 3.25 - 3.00" tapered aluminum tubing and one 3.25" X 3.25" coupler and a 3.00" X 2.50" coupler to connect to the turbo. That would fix the issue once and for all.

How can we get AEM to actually fix the problem?

Complain to them about the issues were are having. The sweaky wheel gets the grease. Orbalt 08 and myself have both emailed them about the issue and no response so far. The more people that complain to them the more likely they are to try to fix the issue.

Honestly, don't buy it (not trying to sound like a smart ass), but I'm over 320whp with the stock box and drop in filter (KN). Intakes on these cars from the majority of the research I've found is solely a sound mod and with winters in PA (not that my car is moving in the winter time) can be nasty on an inlet close to the fog opening.

I've seen worse results on the AEM filter than the stock box with KN as far as airflow goes.
