For the last month or so it's been difficult to shift into 5th or reverse but now I can't do it at all unless I force it with both hands. I took all the covers off and trying to see if I could spot anything but can't spot anything. Only thing I've noticed is the blue piece for the reverse engagement has been rubbing against the plastic going forward and there are some shavings. Anyone have any suggestions on how to free this up without taking it to the dealership for a robbery?

x2 I couldnt get into 5th without holding up the reverse lock out. Adjusted it a lil bit to the left, now it couldnt be more perfect.

 

Check to make sure the bracket on the Trans isn't cracked, broken or that one of the bolts isn't tight.

 

You can't see me but I'm facepalming. Ever since I got my Cobalt I haven't been able to get into fifth without using the lockout. Apparently I and my car are doing it wrong.
