cel p0100 help

i started throwing this code today P0100 Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Malfunction. what the hell is going on.. i tried resetting it but i think it threw it again i have to check. the engine light came back on and i assume its the same thing. anyone knows whats up with it?? is this a common problem?? do i have to get a sensor replaced? also sometimes it misfires if its not warmed up... maybe i have a bad coil pack too? any ideas

MAP sensor maybe. Whatever it is that is why you have a warranty unless your tuned.

Is the K&N filter oiled or dry?

I have never cleaned it w/ oil.. i believe most have a slight amount of oil on it from the factory.. but not much... as i said before i have been running fine for 10k miles with this filter. good luck prooving it was the filter that caused this issue especially if it has been running straight for 10k miles

Well there's potential that your MAF sensor has some sort of build-up on it that needs to be cleaned off. If you were oiling it frequently I'd blame it on that but since you aren't perhaps try carefully pulling out your MAF and check for any form of oil, grease or general build-up around the sensor. The slightest bit of build-up can completely throw it off.

If you do have to clean it be exceptionally careful how you handle it since touching the sensor can completey ruin it. If it continues to throw a code you may need to have it replaced but inspection/cleaning first is probably your best bet, unless you're under warranty still .

yeah i am still under warranty.. i actually took it to the dealership this morning. they said if they have to keep it over night theyll let me have a rental.. so i think i am ok.. hopefully they dont bark about the k&n.. they sell k&n kits and filters soo that would be a hard arguement.

Put the sticker that came with the filter on, I put mine close to the intake, specifically says a knn filter will NOT void a warranty

if they bitch call gm customer service right than and there and open a dispute, that will show them u want ur shot fixed

*update*i just dropped the car off. I literally went to 4 places looking for a stock air filter every place only had K&N. So i had to take the car in with the K&N filter. I explained to the manager what i thought had happened to the recirculation valve nipple. Basically, i believe the tech was in a hurry and broke that part off by not disconnecting it before opening up the air box. This is a known problem with these vehicles. The manager was pretty compasionate regarding the problem and said he would speak to the shop foreman and get it taken care of. He also believes the filter did not cause the issue but just wanted to be 100%. I think they are working well with me so far. You never want to sound combatitive with these folks. I think they can tell I love my car and respect that so you must stay cool and calm until there is a definite problem. So I am hoping they replace the intake arm and maf sensor without charge i told them i have no problem paying for the filter if they want me to put the stock one back on but I couldnt find one after driving to 4 shops. I guess this really doesnt belong on the tech part of this site but i figure other people will or already have this problem. So this dealership may be cool. I would think in general GM would not want bad press regarding warranty issues with all that is going on right now so they really should treat the customer properly. Ill keep everyone posted!

Update.. it was not the maf sensor, but the wiring going to the maf sensor.. the torque from this car ripped it out of the connector.. dealer is being pretty helpful and has ordered the part to fix my intake arm. i should have my car fully fixed by friday hopefully wednesday. Seems like the dealer is doing right. they gave me a rental car for a day too. As soon as it is fully fixed I will be able to recommend this dealer.
