Cel p0496

So my CEL came on last week. I've had my TurboXs catless DP on for about a month now, with a lot of miles put on, with no issue at all. I stopped by my old shop and scanned the car expecting a cat code. Instead I got P0496 for the EVAP purge solenoid (high flow).

I had no symptoms, just the CEL, so I cleared it. I had about 1/4 tank of gas at the time so I went and filled up. After filling I started the car and it would barely stay running. I shut it off and restarted it, repeating this a few times until it was running normally. The CEL was back on, again P0496.

Considering the new symptom I started thinking the purge solenoid may be no good. I cleared the code again, now with a full tank of gas, to see if the CEL came back on as the tank got low.

Sure enough the code came back this weekend at about 1/2-3/4 a tank of fuel. Once again P0496. Also, the car ran really shitty this morning on the way to the gym... it sounded like the turbo was doing something strange, and sounded exactly like an exhaust leak from the DP. The strange thing was that it suddenly stopped, and sounded fine. After the gym I stopped by the shop, cleared the CEL, and ran down to the dealer to get a purge solenoid.

I replaced the EVAP purge solenoid (on the intake manifold) and made sure the lines and wires were intact and the filter in the line was clear. I have about 1/2 a tank of fuel now, so once it gets a little lower Im going to fill it up and see if the CEL stays out and it runs okay.

What Im wondering is, after doing some searching on here, Ive noticed a lot of people with this issue, and a good amount noting the same issue with a catless downpipe. Theres no way this could be related to the DP is there? I dont really see how there could be, plus like I said the DP was on there for hundreds of miles and numerous fillups with no problem.

Anybody else have this issue?

I've had this problem twice now.

It is in no relation to the catless downpipe.

These cars just have very finicky, sensitive, shitty sensors all over the place. Your problem should be cured with the new evap solenoid.
