Charge pipes question/observation

On occasion I look at aftermarket parts, and this one has perplexed me;

Both ZZP and Treadstone offer full kits

ZZP intercooler kit:
ZZPerformance - Intercooler Package for LNF #ZZ-LNFICP

Treadstone intercooler kit:
Cobalt Front Mount Intercooler Kit- TREADSTONE PERFORMANCE
(/\ /\ thier site sucks, I've found you need to use google to find their parts)

They both require you buy their intercooler, and yet they do not spell out the kit contents, and neither company sell a kit for replacing all charge pipes with the assumption that you don't want or need their intercooler.

Can anyone spell out what parts are needed from each company to make your own full kit?

I think that these two are the best looking kits, which is why I am only inquiring about them.

Thanks to anyone who can help out!

Don't get the treadstone.

I'm going to be replacing the TR8 I have with zzp's. Given the charge pipe system it is both hot side pipes and the cold side pipe. I believe the zzp as a kit saves around 50 from buying individual pieces, more if the kit includes silicone replacement couplers

nice...

ok, can you read between the lines to speel out EXACTLY what has to be ordered piece-meal if you don't want to buy the package c/w intercooler?

•Silicone replacement couplers
•Stainless T-bolt clamps
•Upper hot side charge pipe
•Lower cold side charge pipe
•All hardware needed to make the proper connections
because those three points are kinda grey to me... and shipping is expensive - expecially when you're looking at two or three shipments because you've come to realize that you missed something...

I flat out wouldn't want their intercooler - which is the cusp of the problem here;
So just to be clear, your only fault is with the intercooler, not the chargepipes themself - am I correct?

I read a thread last night that the MAF mount requires screws not included with their kit, but otherwise haven't read anythign bad about hteir charge pipes ~ and IMHO theirs and ZZP's look the best (and to my knowledge are the only two pipe sets offered which don't go directly over the engine)

I have a TR12 intercooler (not installed), believe me you don't need one that big. I personally would go with the Treadstone kit as well as their intake.

Which intercooler don't you want?

Are you trying to piece by piece buy it? Do some thinking about what they show in the pic, plus how many clamps you'll need for each connection and there you go.

Honestly the treadstone fitment is crap for the charge piping system. Get all of one company's system or you're going to have issues, zzp's is quality and it fits right.

ok;
There seems to be a fair ammount of congecture, or intercoler discussion, neither of which interest me...

so after looking at ZZP's items;
Is this going to be everything I need to replace all the factory chargepiping?
  1. ZZ-LNFLWRICP-CBT - Lower chargepipe; incl. all connectors required.
  2. ZZ-LNFUPICP - Upper hot side pipe; incl. 2 T bolt clamps & m6 bolt & washer (for mounting tab)
  3. ZZ-LNFSILCP - upgraded silicone couplers; incl. (3) 2.88" T bolt clamps & (1) 2.50" T bolt clamps

The couplers pictured in item #3, do not match the ones in the kit - so that leaves me scratching my head...
It also reads as though the factory couplers can be reused... so that would be about $90 in savings...

Maybe my questioning was because the treadstone pipes do not include any description of what else is needed (they appear to offer one of the best intakes, which should match ZZP's charge pipes ~ so, yes, I was on their terrible to manouver around site for a while yesterday )

zzps pipes come with the tbolt clamps. u don't need to buy the couplers, u can use stock ones, but yes those couplers u have there are right. so if u buy those 2 pipes and the upgraded couplers u have there u are all set. but, why not get the whole intercooler package, it comes with everything u need for install. u cant go wrong with zzp, they make awesome stuff.

a little of my own insight, i just installed injen hotside charge piping over the weekend, and ive noticed i spool about 1-2 psi more because of a more direct route. you can hear it spool louder, along with it spooling up quicker as well. if youre looking to save a bit of money, maybe try that. i think theyre like 150ish, and then save some money and purchase an IC of your choice later on.

You probably fixed a boost leak or the weather is different. The difference in charge pipe dimensions does not make a significant difference
