Charge Piping Performance Kit from CIA Installed
I just put the performance version on last night, and there are a couple of things that worry me. One being that the pipe rests against the back of the fan motor and on the other side the clamps sit against the AC line then it sits on top and rubs two lines, one being the black line and the other is the silver line. You can see this in the OP's picture. I did adjust the pipe so it sat off of these lines. But from other posts I've seen on this site things on this motor tend to rub holes. For me, I can't wedge my hand in to get to the oil filter and think I will have to take the top pipe off (at least one side) to get to it.
k... have the same kit...hot and cold side....(looks good btw)...
I actually recommend only doing the hot side... you don't really gain anything doing the cold side except now instead of a plastic piece you will have a metal piece. It really isn't worth the hassle. And by hassle I mean you will be embarking on the biggest pita install ever (this was the hardest bolt on of all my performance bolt ons). You do not have to take the bumper or fender off for either side...just remove the headlights (so you have room to work) and unclip the underside of the passenger side for access to the intercooler. The first problem you will run into is trying to undo the cold side (not hard) and get it out (difficult). There isn't a lot of space... Next problem will be getting the pipe back up in there (damn near impossible) to connect up. Did I mention that you can not see the throttle body clearly so you will probably misalign it a couple of times and not get it on properly? Don't worry though... the car has a way of telling you when you have blown the piece off. Make sure that before putting the new pipe on that you redo the sensor and nipple... Finally, if you haven't had enough yet, comes the part where you need to align the intercooler (which will be slightly off - it happens) and avoid crunching your sensors and nipple against all the hardware. If you can get all that, then hooking back up your hose and harness won't be that big of a deal (just hard to reach). Be prepared to blow off your piping at least once (always check the throttle body first) and prepare yourself to scratch up your piece a little....
In the end it is a nice piece (don't get me wrong), but for the aggrevation it causes, it isn't worth getting it...

Any chance in getting a picture of how it looks where it goes down (by the electric fan)?
I'll try to get a picture of mine tonight for comparison. I'm not totally convinced that I have it in the correct way. I kept flipping the lower tube around trying to figure out how it goes.

For the "cold side", long side up. (The throttle body end is expanded to 2 3/4" and it would not fit any other way.
I hope this helps.
Thanks guys.
Hot side. I just put pictures in my gallery. I'm afraid if I try and post them they'll be red x's. Take a look and see if that's how yours looks if you could. It's not a clear shot but that back side rests right against the Fan, and the clamps do touch the AC line.
Dan I flipped the tube around so many times I forget, but I think I ended up with the long side up (you can probably tell from the pics if you look) To be honest, it took me as long to install the CP (hot) as it did to put Sportlines on the car, and told my wife who was helping that if It ever comes to helping someone install one or the other I'm going springs
oh and btw way sorry for the tread jack.....you can do it to me sometime

I just went out a took more pics and uploaded them. It's hard to tell from the angle but looks about like yours. I'll have to try and play with it a bit tomorrow, I can see it doesn't look like the turbo clamp is on all the way anyhow.

What's interesting is that I noticed my stock piping looks just like that picture above on how high it is connected to the turbo. I tried loosening and pushing it further down the other day, but noticed that that was as low as it would go by design, a bracket prevents it from going down any further.
Update
Here is an update
Cold Side is in.
it was Hatrickstu, Rootbeer, and Ls1Fbody that helped me put it in. but we got it.
Yes it was a PITA but the car feels pretty Solid now. I looked at the Stock cold side piping and it actually looked like it was being rubbed through which i tohught was odd. but here are some pics!!!
