Check Gas Cap on Computer display
Check Gas Cap on Computer display
Well today, while driving home from work, the computer display on the dash said "Check Gas Cap" over and over. It's an 08 and I have about 45k miles on it. Luckly I happend to be right next to a chevy dealership off the freeway. I went into the parts dept and asked him if they had any in stock. My car is still under warranty but I didnt feel like dealing with all the hassel, so I asked him how much. He said it was only $20.00, so I bought one.
I replaced it and after about 10-15mins on the road my car goes into limp mode without throwing any codes. So I pull over at the nearest gas station and shut the car off and pop the hood. Last time I had this happend, my car threw a code and it turned out to be my Hahn charge piping needed to be tightend up and also the Hahn Cold Air Intake was screwing with the cars MAF.
Anyway after checking everything out, looked fine, started the car back up, no more limp mode and everything seems fine.
Hopefully it doesnt happen again tomorrow. If so Ill take it to have it looked at.
Any ideas why the car would do that?

your gas cap was fine. it just wasnt tight lol.
i had this happen a few times about 30 miles after filling up. go out of my car took the cap off and just put it back on and the message went away. unless someone really screwed with your cap i dont think it was bad.
as for limp mode i dont think it was related to the gas cap.
