CIA Catback for the LNF

Hey guys, i'm curious as to who has this exhaust? I'm thinking about picking it up, and putting it on my stock downpipe right now (eventually upgrading to a new one over the winter), and i'm looking for the pros and cons about it. I've been in touch with Dan from CIA and he has been VERY helpful. I just would like to get other peoples opinions as well!

I was also thinking about taking the resonator out, how do you think this would sound and whatnot on our cars?

Any help/information would be great, thanks a ton guys!

Mike

Honestly you risk that with any product coming to us from the states. What i try to do is get the seller to mark it as a gift, and usually that helps with costs (minimal to none). I've bought numerous stuff for hockey and everything you can think of off ebay, and got hit hard with duties some times, other times i didn't.

I'm really thinking about the CIA since you cant really beat the price.

Am I missing something? I really like the CIA Cat Back but last I checked it was almost $700 for the 3" Stainless Steel version.

Damn, thats too bad. Still, great deal, and it really is a hit or miss on the duties. But i think i may order mine tomorrow, i've been off and on about it ever since finding out the price, but really i can't pass it up.

Dan mentioned that the price was down from 700ish to the 475 for a "limited time".

If I ever bought a catback it would be from mandrelbentexhaustsystems.com, they're like $330 w/ a borla muffler, can't beat it in my opinion.

I'll hold the price until the end of the year. The mandrel bent place may be selling for less but they are NOT a supporting venbdor here. Enough said on that.

As for shipping to Canada, you guys get screwed one way or the other. USPS has cancelled ground service and now only offers express. I can't mark "gift" as I was doing a lot of shipping and I one of my packages was "audited". i was questioned about what we do, what we sell, the value, the replacement cost, etc, etc. I am not going to risk being fined just to make a sale. It just isn't worth it. They are starting to crack down on the "gifts" coming form businesses. Best I can do is "commercial sample" but i have no idea what that changes on the duty.

The other risk is marking the value down to save on the duty. When insuring the package, the insured balue can NOT exceed the claimed value. if the packages is lost and never found, (has happened with the USPS), are you guys willing to take the risk of losing $475.00 completely? Because I would NOT be replacing the products at my cost if lost and not covered due to lack of value.

Canada customers have a dilemna. I think you guys are getting screwed and I wish there was some other way.

Thanks for your interest and support everyone.

There is another way............do what I did and ship it to a UPS store in the US just across from your side of the border and go get it yourself. The other option if that one is no good is to ship it air which costs more but the brokerage is built into the cost of freight so no BS when it arrives, of course this all depends on the size of the package. The shipping method for a lot of US vendors makes or breaks the sale for me and I'm sure for a lot of us Canadians.

Rofl so you think we shouldn't be allowed to talk about them in the LNF section?

A beter bang for the buck would be DP and muffler delete, and will gain more power when/if you tune. Sounds great I think, but have yet to hear a catback with stock DP in person.

Daaaaammnn! Steddy I had no clue they jacked your stuff up. I know of a couple members on here with their exhaust and no problems but that still sucks they messed yours up. I just liked their price compared to others. Guess you get what you pay for....

And for the "not a supporting vendor" comment. I've ordered stuff from you Dan, and you guys are definitely a good company with excellent customer service. I, personally, would never pay near $600 for any exhaust regardless of manufactorer. But, I also have an exhaust shop that I get good and cheap work done.

To answer the above question about discussions on other vendors. The forum rules are specific on links, prices, etc from non supporting vendors; they are not allowed. Baed on the rules, my answer is NO. Discussions shouldn't be allowed in any area. They are getting free advertisement. If the paying vendors on this forum were not having to pay, then our prices could come down. I have no problem with competing against other paying vendors on this forum, but having to compete with non-paying vendors who obviously don't care enough to support this forum directly, isn't right.

Anyways, I'm happy to say we build our exhaust systems to fit correctly.

Thanks to those who just ordered.

^I think that's kind of bullshit now. This is a forum, we can talk about whatever the hell we want as long as were not bashing anyone (some seem to get away with that). There are multiple threads of movies and video games, they don't pay this site jack. I see how it would be frustrating to paying vendor but you guys spend time and money researching and developing products, and that's why people buy from you, not because some guy in Missouri on the internet recommended it. This isn't anything against you but mentioning other products shouldn't be a problem. And, in this case in worked in your favor anyway. Steddy shared problems with the before mentioned company, and the OP bought your product (not saying he was going to buy the other one).

I will always proudly support our Vendors. They put in the research and development time and are always quick to answer questions and deal with any issues. That being said, I have a question

CIA-In some pictures it appears that the muffler on the cat back is slightly tilted/crooked, is this the case? Thanks!!!

Remember, he asked me my opinion. You certainly can disagree with me but I base my opinion on the published rules of the forum. I did not make the rules but, as a vendor, I certainly must follow them. I believe vendors and members should be held to the same rules. As for movies and video game discussions, nothing wrong with it. However, this is a car forum not a video game or movie forum. Paying vendors are not having to compete with 20th Century Fox or Nintendo. If we were, the same argument would apply. You stated people buy from us because of the time and money we have in research and development NOT because some guy recommends us. Actually, it is the other way around. Almost 95% of our sales come from referrals. So links to non-paying vendors does detract from business the paying vendors compete for. In this case, posting the competition's products did work in our favor as they screwed up the exhaust. But there is an old saying: advterisement is still advertisement, good or bad.

Thanks for your support. To answer your question about the muffler, no, we do not hang the muffler on an angle. I know what picture you are referring to and it's the angle it was taken at.

Thanks again.

My visa gives me evil eyes every time i look at it recently with the stuff i've been putting on it.

Are you going to do the install yourself? I'd love to, but the lack of knowledge i have of installs like that and equipment makes me seek elsewhere.

Can't wait to get it.
