cleaning lnf motor

well my car has almost 6000 miles on it and the motor is startin to look a tad unappealing and i wanna clean it. with all my other cars i just high pressured it but it probably wouldnt be a good idea cause theres alot of stuff that shouldnt get really wet. with my last car i took it to my local detail shop that does good work and is respectful with your car and i would rather just pay them to do it and be done with it but they make u sign a waiver with the engine detail i had no problems when i had them do my grand am but am still a little iffy with even them doing it but i really dont feel like doing it all by hand is that how everybody else is doing it?

just realized this should prob be in the detailing thread or whatev its called but it still involves the motor and i dont feel like retyping the whole thing so please bare with me on this one lol

Any sensors/electrical parts under the hood i wipe down with a damp cloth, the rest i just spray with light pressure and use the cloth again. Takes more time but i rather not risk it with high pressure.

I work at a detail shop and what we do is the following...
1. Spray down the engine with something similar to simple green
2. Pressure wash it, high pressure isn't a problem as long as you don't stay in one spot and you spray it fast and don't hit any electrical systems.
3. For any rubber hoses/fixtures we use a product called Blue Sapphire and then spray it out with air.

I pretty much do this only also put something over the alternator something simple you don't need to wrap it just don't spay it with water.

Then when it's over I towel everything off then use my air compressor to air dry all the electronics. Then I wash the rest of of the car.

same thing.... i use a degreaser to the extent of how bad the motor is......if its super disgusting ill just use it straight but if its someone clean ill dilute it with water. also beware of plastic parts. letting that stuff dry on plastic is a huge nono. so my process is

degrease the engine when its kool or slightly warm and let it sit for like 10-15 minutes
scrub parts if they need it
Pressure wash everything by doing fast passes
blow out any like hole areas(aruond the air box and such where water will collect
spray with a dressing and let it sit until im completely done with the whole car
wipe any excess
