clear image automotive, CAI
I know this has probably been a thread already and I don't want to get anyones panties in a bunch. I've searched and can't find what i'm looking for. I understand that clear image automotive scrapped their cold air intake for the LNF due to problems with the silicone coupler. If this is the case what about us guys (girls) who are out here with this scapped product? Is there a new silicone coupler or some sort of replacement? Thanks for any help with this.

This is the 70 dollar Elbow I found in 10 minutes of searching the interwebz after installing my intake here is my letter
Here is my first email
"Ok man well I got it installed . A few notes - the elbows "fit" but they are real flimsy and with the amount of air the passes through these, the silicone piece fluctuates creating a straw type effect sucking the sides of the tubing inwards choking it off . I am not sure what kind of setup you "tested" this on but I am running alot of PSI and my car is tuned by some of the best . ... I will be sending my logs to some ppl just to get a look at what is going on with it I can't go WOT or the computer stops boost build / rpms and it just shuts it down but no CEL's ... So . Like I said I will be sending my logs to some tuners to see if they can get a grasp on whats going on but the breather line interfears with the charge piping I got from you so not sure if you tested these intakes with your own Charge pipes/ intake / tune or just the stock ones . The top side mount doesn't line up correctly either creating an even bigger problem . setting the bracket on the factory airbox post/bolt just makes the breather line blocked by the charge piping even more also the MAF sensor is hitting the engine bay . I have not found a sweet spot to where if everything lines up correctly something else isnt in the way like the breather line hitting charge pipes breather line not fitting all the way onto the nipple ,.. I am not gunna mention any of these problems to the masses / forums yet and I will keep you updated on what is going on but if you can supply me with any information I greatly appreciate it .. I am just stating my findings so I hope you look at this as an oppertunity and not just a ruthless bashing of a vendor..
Thank You !"
Here are the end results
CIA 2 ply silicone elbow

Jerry-Rigged mount I made in 10 minutes

So I don't even know how much I ended up spending just to get this intake and I pre ordered it just because I was hopeful of the results and I still didn't have an offer to refund me any money after waiting for 3 + months for the intake and It didn't even bolt up right read all my problems I sent to them first before asking anymore questions I just fixed it myself and then proceeded to fill them in on whats going on with it so the problems can be dealt with but I didnt ask for a refund but also was not offered any compensation even though I bought all 3 parts from them
I logged my car 3 - 4 times afterwards and tuned it and the logs do show with this Vibrant elbow the car is flowing air a few % better so..

Here is a post I made , I am not sure if CIA uses the AEM filter I can't remember what it said on the box but if you can tell from these pics
Thanks PrincessTurbo. I just found the other thread on this and read the entire thing. I totally had the same problems installing their system and have yet to even have a phone call returned. I'll be getting one of the couplers you purchased and replace that peice of sh@t coupler CIA sent. Thanks for your help.
So I have the SRI installed in my car. I had the same problems UNTIL I shortened the elbow at the turbo side. After taking almost an inch off the elbow, everything came into line and fits perfectly now - even the mount to the stock intake bolt there. I have clearance on all sides, it doesnt touch the a/c lines anymore, and the filter hangs free in the engine bay like it should.
Before I shortened it, it was pressing hard up against the ac line in two places, and I wasnt comfortable with that.
I also had no problems talking with them over PM's - I let them know what I found and what I did to correct it with pictures.

BTW. Thanks Princessturbo for the heads up.
I was going to tell him the same thing. Cut an inch off the big end and it fits just fine. In fact Dan told me to cut it. These are the elbows that delayed the whole pre order group buy. I read about Princessturbo having problems with the stock piece collapsing and replacing it with the Vibrant piece. I did that too. BIG difference in the stiffness between the two. And because the legs are already a little shorter it fits better the first time. Don't know if performance improved any but it increases my peace of mind.

400 dollars for a paperweight , mine doesn't flow worth a crap either rubs all over the place , wiring harness, port hole , I will probably take it off once we find a vendor who does the research . Looks like Terminator is working on one with someone so we might actually get one that performs better.
the most recent gen hahn intake is working well. fitment is great and the fixed the PCV valve connector so it actually stays in place. I got mine for $270 shipped.
Top end is noticeably improved.
