Is the Clutch Master Stage 3 gonna be enough for me?
I'm thinking of being proactive and getting a clutch for when my stock clutch fails. I wanna order it today or tomorrow
I am looking for a very stock feel, no shutter/stutter and a clutch where I can slip for easing forward.
I have the parts in my sig and I'm planning on a lower charge pipe and intercooler. Then I'd say I'm pretty much done with my cars performance.
This is what Modern Performance says for the Stage 3 which seems to fit me well.
Here's what Modern Performance says about stage 4 clutch master
This concerns me for the stage 4 clutch. I feel like it may be too much.
Then this is what ZZP says about everyone
Ugh, so what do think?

Need a replacement clutch for your 08+ Cobalt SS Turbo? If you drive your car hard, and youve got increased boost, and lots of modifications, then this is the clutch for you.
If your 08+ Cobalt SS Turbo is extremely modified, with at *LEAST* 150+ more horsepower than stock, then this is going to be the best clutch for you to use.
We have found this clutch to be good for cars that are driven extremely hard, road raced, or driven hard at the dragstrip. This clutch grabs hard, and can tolerate lots of rpms, heat and abuse

4 puck disc design, which will grab hard, and not allow ANY slippage. This is designed for hardcore racers, and should not be used by any street driven car.
6 puck disc design, which is designed for street driven cars, as it will still grab hard like the 4 puck, but allows slightly more slippage. If you have a serious amount of power in your STREET DRIVEN TURBO Cobalt and need a clutch to hold the power, the stage 4 with 6 puck is your best option.

Do not be fooled by Spec, Clutchmasters, etc clutch kits, they DO NOT WORK as advertised, we have had personal experience with them.
someone on here has a stage 2 clutchmaster, i forget who (armygreywolf?) but they said it held 400tq just fine and it feels very similar to stock. ill have to wait for them to chime in.
I am getting done a turbo upgrade kit which will give me about 440-450 whp, and i got the clutchmaster stage 4. Should pick up my car in about a week or 10 days

Oh wow. So the stage 3 might be too much. Well that's $100 in savings so that's nice.
Edit*** I just realized that modern performance only has stage 1 3 & 4 clutches. Damns I thought the stage 2 was $100 cheaper.
So what does the stage one hold? Is that too weak for me?

Also, I just found another post by MPx stating the Stage 3 is for cars with 350-375whp and stage 4 is for cars with more than that.
Well I happen to have 310whp with catted downpipe and I'm happy with those numbers so I probably won't see 350whp anytime soon so I think I answered my own question.

I make threads, that's what I do. Not to worried about it, but in all honesty, I'm probably gonna stop making threads and reply to most now. I think I'm done with my Cobalt.
I know you said clutchmasters and ect. But if you want to save money, ky clutch will make a clutch for your specs...... Just saying bro..!!!!!....And it comes with a year warranty
what'd you end up going with? No worries vahydx, a lot of questions are answered 1000000000 times on forums. In fact if they werent, after like 2 years there wouldnt be any new posts besides BS'in haha.
ccss3, you and your million threads about KY clutch has pretty much convinced me to give them a shot

If not going past 400tq I would get the CM stage 2. Shouldnt slip and the engagement wont be harsh. Too aggressive (overkill) of a clutch can spell trouble for the trans or axels.
On a side note for the people that have the CM clutches. I heard that they give you some kind of a spacer/shim for the TOB to remedy the low engagement. True?

to be technically correct. All clutches use the same ****. Most clutch kits like clutchmasters and ect use say sach pressure plates and oek pressure plates and friction discs in there kits. Ky clutch uses the best but they actually make there own friction disc. Thryve been tested and they have a great warranty. Price wise i would think this is the best option for most.
