Common problem with SS/TCs??

So I made an appointment for next Monday to bring my car to the dealership to have the steering column checked. The knocking has been getting louder, its most noticable if you just steer the wheel back and forth while parked. Hopefully theyll fix it quick!

I know some of the non-TC cobalt guys have already had steering columns replaced, but any SS/TC guys out there with this problem yet? I have just under 11,000mi on my car.

My Intake Camshaft sensor is also leaking oil again, so Im gonna have them seal it up.

After working as a mechanic, I hate bringing my car in to have other people work on it, but Im certainly not doing the work myself when I paid for the warranty by buying a new car. lol

Its most easily heard 2 ways:

1.) Turn the ignition on (do not start the car) and just turn the steering wheel back and forth. Youll be able to both hear and feel a sort of know or clunk in the steering column.

2.) Jack the front wheels up and turn the steering wheel back and forth....itll be even louder this way.

I just hope the dealer tech doesnt screw around with my car. I hate leaving any of my vehicles in someone else's hands....

Not a recall, but a TSB. I just went to the shop I work at and printed it out. Its in my car, Ill post the number when I get a chance later on. Then just tell your dealer to look up TSB number...

Not a recall, its a TSB (Tech. Service Bulletin). These basically identify common problems, the symptoms associated with the problem, and the repair needed to correct it.

I just went to the shop I work at and found this particular TSB that described the symptoms we've been talking about. Its out in my car right now, but Ill post the TSB number later.....then when you go to your dealer just tell them to look up TSB number XXXXX.

I personally printed it out and highlighted the important areas that explain what Im experiencing.....Im just going to bring this into them so theres less chance of them F'ing around with stuff.

When I was driving tonight I was listening for the clunk. I could hear and feel a little clunk when i was driving around a parking lot. A TSB# would be nice.

If your car has a TSB but your out of the 36k warranty does the dealer still have to fix it for free?

Should usually the TSB or recalls are because of safty issues and they must be addressed by an GM Tech unless you have modded that part then they dont have too!

Only issue i had was the DI pump in the front got a free rubber cover for it. But now the brakes through some bad break dust gonna see what they can do for me.

Nope , TSB's are just an aid to help tech's fix customer's issues.
Recalls on the other hand are free .

Okay, so heres the bulletin number:

04-03-08-006C

It covers 7 possible conditions that may arise, causing Steering/front suspension "Clunk, thump, rattle, knocking, pop, shudder, vibration."

Like I said I printed it out and highlighted the conditions Im experiencing. Now when I bring the car in Im just gonna hand this to them.
