CX Racing is an Ebay Intercooler company...

Not knocking them, Ive used plenty of them and they have worked well. If you buy the super cheap 2.5" thickness ones, I cant say thats the best idea. But I have bought quite a few 3" thickness (X02 Racing Brand on there) ones and had great results with them

i think the problem ppl have with the crazy steve IC is that it is too big and they have pressure drop at higher boost levels. not having one i cannot say for sure.

I was the test car for this.

I am now on GM Stage 1, Air Box mod, and bypass mod,

I hit 20psi no matter what. Never less at WOT and was hitting 23psi on very warm days.

So no pressure drops. Damn thing never gets warm which is a good thing.

I to am considering this IC in the future. I haven't heard many problems with and most of the people that say its **** are running a much higher cost IC. I had a friend that was going to buy one of those said IC's for his HHR. I pointed him in towards Steve's IC and he is coming up on a year of use and LOVES it! For less than the price of one of the higher priced IC's he got a nice IC and charge pipes.

pressure drop my ass. my spool up is faster which is hard to believe. but unless you have his intercooler on your car or tested it out yourself i dont think you should say something thats false.

I'll probably end up buying one too. I heard there were fitment issues or you had to cut chunks of the bumper or something but I guess I'd rather cut some **** than pay another $600 for a Hahn intercooler.

I just installed mine Saturday Did not cut anything just had to bend the brackets a little to fit it between the brace and the radiator having some help hold it up is a bonus though so it did not hit into the radiator while getting the fitment right. Not hard at all the Bumper removal takes longer than the fitment.

So why don't we try and see if we can get an EVEN BETTER deal on a group buy? I am sure if we get 5-10 or maybe more we can get the price to drop or at least get free shipping.

The genuine saab unit.... is a fine intercooler.... but way too big.

Unfortunately for him, you can buy the same ebay CXR core on ebay for $80 bucks... have some 90's and some tabs welded on for ~$70-100.00 and save 70 bucks.

Frankly every intercooler available for this car is WAYYYYYY oversized. Making the turbo strain to make the same boost!

This IC looks big but really is not as big as one might think. Its not about the turbo keeping up with the IC. With big IC's you find spool time being longer to "pressurize" the system, meaning increased "turbo lag". From what I can tell with this IC there is not a noticeable difference in spool time but IAT's are still lowered.

I think $550 is way toooo much for any intercooler. My Steves was $250 and was excellent quality. I had to elongate the 2 mounting holes to make it fit 1/2 inch and if you need any tips PM or email me

If you do the install the right way you need to notch the bumper BRACE so the intercooler tabs fit in front of the brace. This insures the bumper bolts back on in the exact position and shape it came off in.

obviously I did not make myself clear here...

Pressure sensor before intercooler... pressure sensor after intercooler..... the car will make the turbo overwork itself to make sure both pressures are the same.

With a LARGE intercooler you have a bigger PRESSURE drop. Sooo do I need to make it clearer than that!

It wont strain because the exhaust spools the turbo. The turbo only can spin as fast as the exhaust spins it and if as you claim the pressure drops there will be less air to burn and the turbo will only spin as fast as the exhaust spins it. Thats where the tune comes in.

what he is speaking of is the larger volume of air needed in the inake tract because with a larger IC, you create and area for more air needed to get from point A-B. This results in "boost loss/drop." Because the air is "stretched" through the intake tract, by the time it gets to the intake manifold, it is less condensed. Resulting in a slight loss of PSI over the grand scale of things. I would not venture to say its overworking the turbo, but it is causing it to push more air through the intake tract and spool more to meet the PSI requirements.
