Well good for you I guess... I'm just saying from gm's perspective... this is why warranty work is so hard to get done on our cars. I know it sounds like I'm being a dick and I probably am but clearly this is not GM's fault since you took their engineering and went past their safe limits. Why would you warranty something that is going to break if you do that again... Just go get some aftermarket stuff and put the problem to bed for good.

Really? Lol karma? Hahahaha the techs at the GM house know what's done to the car and still work on it. How is that warranty fraud? Also I'm getting some work done while it's there. I went up there this morning to talk to the techs and they said it was covered. Why hate cuz I have a better hook up then you? Seems like a better deal then buying for all the **** and doin it myself. Also overrev is my fault how? Don't seem to understand that the rev limited went out has to be my fault lol. Funny how y'all eat your own!

Because its the techs that call it into gm warranty. So therfore since ure getting ure car done under warranty, someone else cant because of people like u who abuse the warranty. Try going to another dealership and see what happens....

U r frauding the warranty system not the dealership........

No matter how you feel about whether or not it is fair for possible abuse to be covered under warranty, and more often then not I think abuse is the root cause of many failures on this site
It does help them engineer better parts. And after all it is up to the dealers discretion as to whether or not a repair is done under warranty.

Xa billion. This is what decays the trust relationship that is imperative to the warranty claims process. Once that trust is violated, getting a legitimate warranty claim becomes a much bigger headache as GM is far less likely to oblige.

Agreed. Warranty work is difficult enough to get done on cars like this; I always had the dealer look at me funny everytime I brought my 06 SS/SC in and the only non factory parts on the car were GMPP / GMStage2 (installed, AT the dealer) Even so they still tried to wriggle out of warranty claims.

This crap drives up prices, and puts a bad stigma on the cars themselves.

I don't know what to say about some of the warranty comments, but I had this happen to me last month;
I was out getting lunch when the car flat out fell on it's face;
it turned out there four lash adjusters and four rockers broke.

I was told by the dealer that they have seen this before, and that over-reving was the suspected culprit.

I do know that I didn't over rev the car when it happened...

Thankfully my servicing dealer had noted that the engine seemed to be noisier that they figured it should have been on prior visits (it had always been that 'noisy', so I thought nothing of it);
when the 4+4 were replaced, the shop foreman wasn't happy with the fact that the engine still seemed to be too (mechanically) noisy;
So another 12 lash adjusters, were ordered (I cannot recall at this time if all sixteen rockers were changed, or if it was just the four)...

Twenty long days with a boring rental Impala after initially towing my car in;
I got my car back.

I learnt right from the get go, to not touch anything, or you're liable to have hte service department deem you illegible for warranty work - thankfully it was over only $20(@ retail) of parts* ~ so I ended up chalking it up to experience, and fixing it myself.

* = My sub was not mounted properly at the factory;
the reinforcing washers were left on my spare tire;
one of the studs pulled through (at the factory), and is stuck in the rear of my sub;
the remaining three eventually came loose;
all the mounting hardware and what not was damaged, and unusable;
the acting service manager at the time cited some 'scuffing' (which I later wiped off) as evidence that I was responsible for something hitting my sub, and causing the damage... BS

This time around, all I did was arrange for a tow-truck, and called the dealer to let them know I was coming.

btw, I had been noticing all winter, that as soon as it was below freezing, if I started driving before the coolant was @ 100F, that several misfire codes would pop (generally 300, 301, 302), but ever since this repair, I have not seen a solitary SES light.

wtf is with you guys..it's not like he's saying he didn't do something wrong.. or going back to stock to get warranty work done.. the dealership knows that it's modded and they're still choosing to warranty it .. thats on them

i find it laughable that you guys are insinuating that if a dealership said hey we're not gonna charge your for something we know you broke .. anyone would say.. nooo dont worry about it .. i'll pay for it the hundreds and hundreds of dollars it will be to fix.. and if thats the case i'll send you my paypal so you can send me a couple hundred dollars since you guys dont seem to care about it

yea they make the call THE DEALERSHIP makes that choice to call gm.. again.. so you're meaning to tell me that you would go out of your way to have something NOT covered?

if he was going back to stock to make it so a dealership would warranty everything then yea i'm totally with all you guys.. but he didn't hide anything.. and like i said if you guys all have the hundreds of dollars to waste so you can spend the money when the DEALERSHIP is making a choice to call GM not like he's actively trying to get it covered..

if some one isn't doing their job correctly but it benefits you by the cost of almost 1k how many people are actually going to say no i'll pay you .. very VERY few.. just about no one.. all you people are trying to martyr yourselves that you would do something is funny as hell

yea you have to pay to play but it's not like the guys trying to actively get around that ..

I'm not hating I'm just merely presenting a valid point that is all. More power to you if you can get it warrantied with the same crap parts GM gives us. I would choose to upgrade but that is me... And a over rev is your fault no matter how you slice it. The trans didn't shift itself... You told it to do it and it did it that would be operator error.

^^^ FIxed
Unless you have found a way to over rev while shifting up a gear or you shifted at like 10,000 rpms into 4th... which brings out a whole new set of problems all together.

I don't think they really care about this platform since it isn't made at all anymore... And all it will do is make sure that they note it in their systems so that when something like this comes in they will know not to warranty it.
