IMO don't just settle for something because of price. You will never be fully satisfied if you just settle, you will always play the "what if" game. It's ur money tho, so do what you want..

i just went from page 1 to page 41.

-Aaron is more indecisive than anyone i have ever met
-at 400whp pistons are a ticking time bomb
-"safer" DD stock motor range will be 350-375?
-trans is a huge issue
-pwerks or zzp will be my choice for 375+ whp bolt on option

Aaron did you ever make a choice?

Who here has just replaced pistons/gaskets left everything else stock?

i made this thread, so i can make 15 choices if i want...lol

Well, i decided to NOT get the s20g at all.

I decided that the ZFR is the overall best bang for buck turbo, and unless i get 2200 for the WR2, then the ZFR is my first choice.

K04+ is a decent choice to just replace the turbo for 1700-500 core = 1200, for 360whp max on 93
BNR is a great turbo for 1200 + 400-500 BOV/chargepipes = 16-1700, for 415whp max on 93
wr-2 is the best overall turbo in my opinion, but is 2200-300 core = 1900, for 430whp max on 93
The zfr is a no core needed turbo( no down time without car), and makes the most peak power out of any of them for $1860., for 450whp+ max on 93

Yupp zfr seems to be a no brainer, after seeing all the posts on pistons im scared of 400+whp! lol

I'm sorry but you will not make 450+ on 93 with the ZFR...unless you are on **** ton of meth and a VERY aggressive tune..honestly there are not any turbos that are direct bolt in that will yield you those numbers

Aaron, where are you getting this 415whp max from. Term2 on Drewbrew's SS was able to get 440whp 460wtrq on the BNR.

Pistons are not a weak link. You can safely DD as much as your fuel/tune will allow. Trans is hit or miss honestly.

As with any motor, it's all in the tune. The biggest contributor to piston failure is too much heat for an extended period of time IE pushing the stock turbo to hard and beating the **** out of it. A larger turbo will be more efficient and create less heat than the stock K04.

Really!?? That must be one happy dyno or he's running 30 psi with 100 octane and meth. That is a lot of whp for a 2871.

Yep, not bad for a 2871 which flows only 45lbs.

i wouldnt say pistons are the #1 extreme weak link....... 400 is safe on a stock bottom/top end(with valve springs) WITH A GOOD TUNE providing theirs no pre exsisting issues and what not. just about every blown motor thats traveled through here has shown signs of detonation and **** poor tuning(which leads to the detonation) and i will not name names who has tuned the motors but theres been a variety of tuners so the finger wont be pointed at one specfic person.

too many people think that having a forged bottom end is better then oem. it is and it isnt. for daily driving oem is a much better option imho.

Agreed, while examining my pistons(seeing the process GM uses) I saw a similarity in the process GM uses when making our Rods. Its all cast as one piece to later where the rod connects to the crank be cracked(intentionally) to create a strength and fit that best any manufactured premeditated Rod fastener. Honda uses this same process when they were involved in F1 back in the 80's. It was proven to be the strongest method.....so.... seeing the LNF( and I'm sure other variants) have this stock reaffirm what Omiotek is saying that for OEM/ DDing the stock rods are amazing and even for mildly modded engines.

Meh we were seeing between 40-42lbs/min peak up top but the turbo hasn't been pushed to it's limits in your car yet so 45lbs/min is doable if you really wanted to push it that hard. I would really think about upgrading your fuel pump before attempting it though. It's already getting pushed pretty hard as it is.

I thought it was 1200 for the turbo and oil lines/fittings - not a BOV and couplers.. I just bought a S20G and am getting it via UPS today - I may be returning some other parts I bought haha

Thats good on 26psi.
It looks like the clutch is giving out or something on that wiggly graph.
