That's the great thing about Mobil 1, the race formula IS the regular formula.

This new racing oil was just developed for guys that just flat out don't believe that and want a true race oil; it has double the protection but utilizes low viscosity technology to remove as much resistance as possible to free up extra power.

btw congrats on the kick ass job!!!

You can put 0W anything in any car, the first number is what weight the oil is on start-up.

The reason it says its for race use only is because it has double the amount of phosphorus and zinc than regular Mobil 1 and therefore will tear apart your cat if you have one.

On the street you are legally required to have one, so therefore = off-road use only.

Thanks for the explanation...now I have more of a reason not to use that stuff! I want to stay street legal and will always run a cat...so I guess it is completely out of the question...

As for the 0W, I would think that would be EXTREMELY thin...heck...I have trouble putting in 5W in my Cobalt...I've always used 10W...however, I'm a "do what GM days because they clearly know what is best since they hold my warranty" kind of guy, so 5W-30 Mobil 1 is my choice!

Also no one has any 5w30 mobil one by me either, had to switch to Royal Purple which I really don't like using in the car.
I'd like to give that mobil race oil a shot.

Mobil 1 Racing will be out in Spring.

You don't have a Wal-Mart near you? They all carry 5w-30.

I run RP in mine as well. No problems from me. Haven't noticed anything special from using it over MB1

Read above.

Like I stated, the Wal Mart by me has NO Mobil 1. Alot of regions in the country are like this. Signs at Wal Mart blamed hurricane Ike.

recently the ASE lowered the specification requirements of oils like cleaning agents ect... mobil 1 was the first one on the band wagon they changed there oils and degraded them like every other big company on the market such as castrol, penzoil, mobil 1, any big company out there royal purple, amsoil and redline have declined to do so they still have the same oil as before and are STILL the best oils on the market as for drying out seals thats a load any one of the oils i named that havent changed there oil and are the leading brands in high performance for a reason THERE THE BEST. as for mobil 1 i will never use it again stay away from big company oils.....(im a student at UTI and we just had a royal purple rep come and give use all this info)

Do you see where this information is flawed?

Lets only use Royal Purple here for comparison against themselves, why would a company make a specific "Engine brake in" oil if their product was an actually superior product?

Are we to believe that Royal Purple has some sort of secret about engine's sealing when more cars are factory filled with Mobil 1 and break-in perfectly time and time again when they roll off the assembly line?

If you want some real proof of what Royal Purple is all about, check out this ad they did:

Royal Purple paid people to use their oil for this competition and STILL 3 people choose to use Mobil 1 (that wasn't involved in any way with the event) on their engines.

Also, check out what motor oil the winner used this year when Mobil 1 came on board to end Royal Purple's sillyness:

If you're going to keep the car for more than65k mi more changes will ensure longer life... Ive seen the difference between a 5-7k mi change and a 2500-3k mi change ad it's unbelievable!!! Mine gets done every 2800k no matter what because I drive alot of miles and will be keeping the car at least 3-4 years.

Oil is oil, it's that simple.... I however, choose what the racing community and other pros use, and have been using for decades. why? because it's prooven in how long it has been used. . Nuff said... And you can all do the home work to find out which oil it is.

Oil is not oil, and it's not that simple.

Change a car with Mobil 1 at 500 miles or 7000 miles and the engine will look exactly the same.

True and not true.....the engine will look the same, but the oil that been ran for more miles is broken down more and will reduce performance. Im not saying change your oil every week, but it does make a difference when you compare 3k oil to 7k oil.

And I'm just saying that Mobil 1 will NOT break down in any way more that will affect performance or durability from 3k to 7k in a LNF.

A proper synthetic oil will not leave deposits or break down like a dino oil.

Yes, I'm saying that!

I'm also saying that I have a magic unicorn in my basement that lives on fizzled onions and tells me all the lottery numbers for the next 20 years and no one can see him but me!!!!!

If you just want to argue for the sake of arguing go find someone else to do it with.

You can't go wrong that way!

I heard if you change your oil twice a week, Pep Boys will give you a free tinfoil hat to stop the satellites from stealing your thoughts.

I'm only one oil changed away this week from getting mine.

You should use Mobil 1.

The entire racing world (ALMS, Formula 1, Formula D, NDRA) and the best car manufactures (Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, SRT, EVO, Bentley, etc.) do.

There is a reason they don't use Amsoil or Royal Purple.
