Down Pipe

I was wondering how much more horsepower and torque we will make with an aftermarket 3inch downpipe (catted and non catted). I have a tune but just wondering if it will make a big enough differance to get one or leave the stock one on.

If you go for catless then make sure your tune is adjusted for it

Why would the tune need to be adjusted for it? Is it that different on our cars compared to other cars?

you have to correct the mapping for the increased flow of the larger free flowing down pipe. You will gain horse power but not as much as if you are tuned for it

HMMM!!! I went catless on all the cars I've ever owned, and my Brother went catless with his SRT-4 a few months ago. The only car that I've ever owned that went catless and got tuned was my 05 GT that I still have. So when I got my catless DP I should just contact Trifecta again and have them send me another tune? That is gonna be another $300 for the tuner again.

HMMM!!! I think I told him when I ordered my tune that I had a CAI already installed and would be getting a catless DP soon. Maybe he already put that into the tune.

i would say give him a call and see if he knows maybee he has it on record somewhere. if not i would wait untill you get more upgrades then call him unless you dont plan on doing anything else soon.

i doubt he would add that into the tune since you have been using a catted downpipe/stock so far, but who knows.

The only mod that I really want and want soon is the catless DP with cutout from Dejon and then some DR's. After that I'm gonna wait on modding the Cobalt for awhile and see what I can do with just intake, exhaust, and DR's, and then worry about modding my Mustang for alittle while.

Not sure, but I do know they ask for what mods you have installed and what mods you plan on doing soon.

I talked with vince and he said the way he tunes these cars you are going to gain 80% of what the downpipes full potential is so its not really worth it to get retuned, he did say that you would have to get the O2 sensors shut off tho, but I know hahn and clearimage say there catless downpipe dont cause codes anyone wiht experience with either of these I would like to know if you have had a code or not?

what if you get the electric cutoff. how can you tune for something that is basicaly 2 different settings lol. you hit a switch and the cutoff opens up and exits right out where the cat would be. flip the switch and right back to streight pipe all the way back to the rest of the exhaust. would you tune for the streight pipe since thats what would be used most often or the cutoff?

Not sure how this would be any different, but my Brother has a catless DP with e-cutout on his SRT-4 and he hasnt thrown a code in like 5 months or so. He also hasnt had his car tuned for any of his mods yet either.

i am catless right now and i love it...sometimes the sound is too much for certain situations like first thing in the morning when im going to work at 530am but most of the time i love it. and i notice the diff not so much in alot of horsepower but just i can feel better airflow in my car and it feels like my car is smiling.
