Downpipe installation time

So I tried with my buddy to get my downpipe off but we just don't have the skill to do it, a local exhaust/transmission shop says they charge 85$ an hour. I don't wanna get destroyed by a bill when they put it on, so any idea how long it should take a shop to install a downpipe?

It is literally 7 bolts and one oxygen sensor. Grab the nut buster spray all the bolts/nuts down go chill for an hour or two (keep hitting it with more nut buster if you want to every 30mins or so). You need extensions and swivel joints

Okay if it's easy then it shouldn't take the shop very long. We don't have every tool at out disposal like you might be thinking. We out mouse milk on it and let it sit for about 15min and then we started cranking on it but could only get one bolt off.

Not to mention we don't have a lift. We just have jack stands so there's no room for torquing the bolts. But I came here for an answer, not a bunch of bullshit from people.

Mix up a 50/50 solution of acetone and ATF to spray on the bolts. It works way better than any penetrating oil on the market. Get a breaker bar or a ratchet and a cheater pipe and just crank. It really is an easy job. Book time on the downpipe is an hour in my computer so if you take it to a shop expect to pay between 85-100 minimum

You're just a nuisance and at this point I find you to be harassing me about something I couldn't do, sorry I couldn't do the install myself, I'm here for help not for you to harass me. I would appreciate you staying out of this thread or any other future threads I make.

hahaha relax buddy .... he is just stating a fact that its not as hard as it seems, even when using jack stands. HE is not harassing you in any way shape or form.

You seem a little overwhelmed by your situation so just relax and take a quick breather and throw some rust *********** on those bolts and grab a beer and chill out.

Youll figure it out sooner or later, im sure you and a friend will be able to swap out the pipe.

Don't forget antiseize when u put it back on. It will make job a lot easier in the future. Use 2000 degree stuff just in case. Exhaust gas temp at the manifold gets to 1800 degrees at wot.

Like everyone else has said its not difficult to remove the bolts i would give you a hand if i was closer. But yes breaker bar or a cheater bar will help you take those bolts off for sure, also extensions will help out a lot at least one that's 1 ft long.

if you dont have the tools or dont feel comfortable doing the job take it to the shop they shouldnt take more than one hour to take off the bolts with a lift. I can take the dp off in jacks in 30 mins or maybe less

For the $85 your going to pay the shop, you can buy all the tools you need three fold over.

And then you can do more car stuff next time you wanna change a part.

Its a win-win. Having your own tools makes life better.

And Ecaulk wasnt being a dick. Hes right. Ive taken my dp a thousand times laying on the ground. Its a 15 minute job, youll need long extensions and a swivel/u-joint.
