poor old horse

The offroad will be a tad louder and gurgle more. You might get 1 to 5 more horsepower with no cat over the CatCon. The Catcon will still yield about 10hp though, the cat will mellow the sound out a little.

Someone should summarize all these downpipe threads and make a sticky, there's a new thread on downpipes every couple days...

Not going into the its illegal issue of the catless DP, I will say that a catless DP is totally the way to go on a TC, it just sounds SOOOOOO much better.

Agreed. Had a ZZP catted one for a while and then bought the catless. A little annoying at 5am in warmup mode, but other than that it has a very nice tone. Growls pretty good when in boost.

This.

We should tally up all the retarded downpipe threads and take bets on what the final number would be...seriously...Search button FTW!

But to answer this question for the 109882874th time...Catless is a good amount louder...especially on a cold start...warm up sounds like a prop plane...as for a power difference...meh...depends on your tune....but I wouldn't guess ANY more than a 10 whp difference with a proper tune between the catless and high flow downpipes.

The catless will sound much better. Unless you run a straight pipe for an exhaust you're not going to get your LNF all that loud. The turbo quiets it down quite a bit. Honestly, straight pipe doesn't even sound that bad! :flamesuiton"

I agree. It is very difficult to make the LNF loud except on cold start up. My car sounds like an airplane when you first fire it up.

A quick search for, "Downpipe," in the 2.0LNF and LNF General brings up 57 threads about downpipes. On the first page of results there are 8 threads based on, "Which is better," or, "Which makes more power." Across all 57 threads there are 17 that deal with the, "Which is better," question.

Not only should the downpipe topic be condensed and made a sticky, there should be a noob FAQ that must be read and agreed to before signing up. I mean, do you noobs really think that downpipe questions haven't been answered on a forum about a turbocharged car???

I hope you NEVER asked a question that's ever been asked on this thread before or you're a hypocrit. There's nothing wrong with making a new thread. There's a lot of old threads that the mods could delete, especially in the Lounge. Do we really still need threads from 2006 that haven't been bumped in 3 years?

Sometimes information changes over time . New products come out ...people put miles on and can better say how the part performs over time. I'll use the SS/SC as an example ......when the GMPP exhaust came out everyone flocked to it .....it was great yadda yadda . A year later it was said to be too small for a modded SS/SC ....( I kept mine because it sounded so good lol) . I've seen many trends come and go over the last 3+ years. As time goes on people gain experience and know how that warrent new threads on old subject's .
