DP Install question

Okie, my search really yielded nothing that answered my question completely.

I just picked up my turbo xs cat less dp this afternoon, and after work I tossed up up on stands and went to get to work.

I soaked all 7 bolts with penetrating spray for about an hour, but try and try as I may I could not crack them, not even an mm...

Any tips or tricks for a guy with limited resources and just hand tools.

I used a llong extension and 1/2" drive tools with a breaker bar. Took everything I had to get those bastards loose. You might be able to get an impact on them if you have a long enough extension just please wear safety glasses. You should be anyways.

how many miles do you have on it?

i put my catless on about 3 months ago by myself. the night before i soaked the **** out of them with PB blaster and the next morning i soaked them again. drove around for a little bit so the stock DP was hot, brought it to my buddies house and they popped right loose. i had about 39-40k on my car at the time.

be sure to soak the hell out of your o2 sensor also. that was maybe my biggest problem. i used a ratchet while taking the stock DP off and putting my catless on.

i put my stock DP back on to bring my car back in for warranty stuff and i used a air impact.

if your using a impact to put the nuts on just be careful not to strip the threads out or round off a nut.

while putting my catless DP back on a few weeks ago,i managed to back the stud out of the flange. it made me kind of leary, for some reason i feel i stripped the threads on the turbo flange. i was using a air impact lol

Maybe I'll just keep soaking it... And give it a go tomorrow after work... I'll soak it in the morning too... My O2 sensor gave me the least trouble it popped right out... And when I put it back I put anti seize lube on it...

I have about 45k km on the car as well...

Mine were a bitch to get off but I took an impact to them. When using a impact use just enough extension to make clearance on it

I changed my dp like a month ago and it was a PITA. Using a longer wrench (mine was about a foot long), soaking with penetrating fluid, and giving it hell should get them loose. A lot of times is they rust/weld together so you may want to use your body weight. I had a mechanic even say that heating the bolts up will help too.

Impact. Took me 30 minutes besides my 02 sensor being a pita.

Heat is definitely a good tool if you can use it safely.

so maybe a propane torch? (with no fluid on it haha)
I dunno CT has a cordless impact wrench 1/2" with a full tool set... for 119.00 right now it'll do about 1,050 in-lb of torque..Should get the job done!

Ehhh... 1000 in-lb is only like 90 ft-lbs. That aint gonna do jack.

I have a porpane torch I use and it has kind of a long neck. I imagine it would be perfect for this so long as you clean up the penetrating oil you sprayed every where.

Haha next post, uh guys I started my car on fire....

Seriously going to try giving her a full day soaking in pen lube... I'll put it back up tomorrow after work...
Thinking maybe a 15mm open ended and a hammer if needed could work too?

In anycase I am loving the DP not being on lol, its sitting on my couch right now and sexy as all hell!
Turbo xs does one hell of a job!!!
