Hey guys, I got a stupid question for u guys. If I upgraded my turbo to the EFR, will that make me fail my smog test? I live in CA so it's really strict. I know I'm gonna have to take out my CAI, CATTED downpipe, and Hot side charge pipe so I can pass but if I uprgrade the turbo then will I have to take that out too? If yes then that's way too much work! LOL If that's the case then I"ll be happy with my current set-up at 300hp. LOL Thanks!

My Trailblazer ss made 440whp on a dynojet with smoothing, and 380whp on a mustang dyno back to back. My regal is putting down 380 on a mustang and it feels like it could take the ss. Regardless, nice numbers with the blend on an efr.
350whp on an efr with e? I highly doubt it's that low. I dynoed 396 with less boost and only 93 octane. My car runs door to door with an ls3 vette.

i didnt say 350 exactly, but its proven that their is a significant % difference in dynos. Just stating the facts, i can post my dyno sheets from my tb so you know im not full of ****. I dyno'd 374whp with my efr and e85. im sure i could bump i t up with supporting mods, just throwing it out there, not meant to start a flame war.

I made 427/381 on 21psi on 93 16* not sure where it was at on 30psi and E85. Felt okay great little turbo if it would have lasted.

Dude, that's freakin jacked up! This turbo wants more boost, you can see that from the plot! It didn't drop in power at all! I can't believe it grenaded like that

This turbo would've made around 375whp on a Mustang same day. Conditions sucked, and with the Mustang correction factor being ~15-20% lower than a DJ dyno that's what it would've made.

Honestly though, what I really want to see is how it does at the track and what it traps. I don't car much about the number. We picked up almost 100whp from the 20psi low timing map. This turbo really shines once you turn up boost. It needs more boost but now ULWizSS has me thinking the opposite for longevity.

Those are some solid numbers dude! My guess is you were 475+. What timing did you run on E?

Lol. Terms a good ass dude!

But this dude bashes stupid **** all the time and his posts are so dumb. Dude needs to know wtf is up and its not all about trap speeds in the 1/4 mile. Tell him to get somewhat traction first and then talk.

Don't settle for that lol, trust. Get an EFR you won't regret it. I don't regret mine even though it blew LMFAO.

You don't have to do any grinding with the newer version. Everything is revised.

Nope, no grinding at all. The exhaust housing is already ground down.

Don't take the super easy route. the zfr is worth it. Surprised a couple of vettes lol and that's on a 91 tune.

Traction is easy - slicks. I'm not stupid enough to believe though that having a .2 or .3 quicker 60 foot is going to reduce my trap speeds by 9 mph Lol. 3 mph difference in trap speeds is a large amount of change in horsepower.

Like everyone else basically said, screw the k04+.. lol.. A good route you could take if you decide against the zfr is with the bnr2871. Good power, and bolts on the stock mani like the zfr. After the core is refunded and bov is installed it still ends up being a bit less money than the zfr.

Either way, there shouldn't be any grinding of the manifold needed nor will you need to remove the manifold at all for that matter. The manifold heat shield can even stay in place as long as you remove the bolt right where the turbo bolts to the manifold, otherwise that bolt will definitely interfere. Another thing to keep an eye out for as well is the length of the turbo oil feed. Mine for whatever stroke of **** luck ended up being about 1.5" too short no matter how I routed it. I ended up having to piece together two -4 fittings and make a 1/4" extension line to make mine fit correctly. Other than that, it wasn't a difficult install in the least..

Here's a pic of the extension. I also coated my turbine housing in a 2000* high temp black enamel because mine was already rusting a looked like absolute crap. It was far more rusty looking that the o2 housing it's bolted to there in the pic just to give you a point of reference. Any future installs of these that I do will 100% get the same treatment.

my zfr install was super easy. Everything fit like a glove. The pcv fitting was a bitch getting off the rocker cover, other than that piece of cake.

Like I said, I may have just had **** luck somehow then with my oil line feed. It's obviously fixed now so no worries. I won't say that I wasn't cursing out zzp for a little bit there though.. lol.. As far as the valve cover fitting, that's literally a 5 second removal if done correctly..
