kinda sounds like a timing chain slapping around

 

thats what the dealer thought possibly, really hoping to have the thing back soon my buddys was making an engine noice similar to mine and his has been at the dealer for over a month

thanks and at first it didnt seem like in ryth with the engine rotating but as its getting loyuder now it seems like it idk what it is lol

 

It sounds like the chain. Maybe the tensioner went bad. It could also be a problem with the chain rollers and some of them being broken. Drain the oil and check for roller parts with a magnet. If it is the tensioner then the front end needs to be taken off the engine to replace it.

 

My tensioner went bad in my 05 SS, and it sounded quite a bit like that, not so constant, but deffinantly a ticking.

 

See if it is the belt tensioner I know it sounds funky but my car was doing this same thing and the tensioner was done for. The sound is exactly the same just trying to help.

Yeah, I remember my tensioner going out before in my 07 SS/SC, started to really rattle like an old clunker when idle. Of course neither GM or the dealer figured it out and gave me a brand new engine. Hopefully this is not a common problem in the SS/TC's I would be very disappointed.

alright the word from the dealer as of today is that i have a cracked rocker go figure i asked if they were gona just replace the rocker or rocker and spring they just said rocker thats what gm has told them i said that i posted on the forums and people had the same issue that kept reoccuring untill the spring was replaced so i wouldnt be suprised if it breaks again soon
