OK now, if the unstoppable wheel hop nanny is the one to blame, then will rotated mounts keep it at bay?

I'm not wheel hopping, or anywhere close to wheel hopping when it cuts power in third. It's happening over 50 mph, loaded up in a turn.

My car does the same thing sometimes in a strait line in 3rd.

Even with ESC off, I also have had it cut power to mine in third. Usually if the wheels start to slip, straight line or in a turn. (LSD here) Not in 1st or 2nd though. I guess they keep the Nanny on watch with the higher speed even when she is supposed to be sleeping.

This is actually starting to sound reminiscent of a fuel cut issue with the audi 2.0tfsi motor. Real brief hesitation. anyone experiencing this care to run a log while reproducing it?

I logged mine after it started happening. Waited for a rainy day, turned ESC off, floored it in third at 70, when the wheels broke loose in a straight line, the nanny closed the electronic throttle. Logged several events the same. Pedal position 100%, throttle position closed until traction was regained. Kept it to the floor and it would repeat itself until I let off the throttle. No wheel hop. Mine's an '08 btw.

That is lame. What about when I like to have fun spinning the tires at 70... That is the problem that people encounter on the dyno right? how is that disabled? I should probably figure that out if I'm hitting the dyno next week. I thought I would just turn off the ESC but apparently that won't work.

Turning off ESC works on the dyno, maybe because both wheels are turning the same speed? On the road, I'm sure the LSD keeps transferring torque back and forth looking for traction.

I'd log it on track, but I can't use the damn pro logging feature that I paid for. It's been months, and I still can't use it. It's absurd.

I am not a huge fan of stability control. I was hauling ass through the mountains and forgot to turn it to comp mod at least and it almost friggin killed me when I was railing through a corner. It felt like the car was fine then the esc light came on and it felt like i slammed on the brakes but my foot was firmly planted on the right pedal. I saw my life flash before my eyes.

yea the esc is super sensitive when it's on the regular mode.. the worst is when you correct the moment before it's suppose to common but comes on anyways lol

This has happened to me again a couple weeks ago . It was wet and i was passing a car that was doing 35 in a 55 ......then they decided to hammer it when i went to pass..... well at around 60 mph in 3rd it spun the tires pretty hard cause it was wet out .... the ESC active light came on even thou it was disabled . I know for a fact it was disabled cause it's a routine i do everytime i start the car.

Yea I make it a habit to go into comp mode at least. It stops the straight line burnouts so I don't go through tires quite so fast. That is the only good thing about it.

So wait, you guys are driving your car on public roads, with usually more than stock horsepower in an already powerful car, whilst limiting the aids that keep you on your side of the road?

Listen, there are only two situations I turn off those systems, one is when I'm at this particular intersection that means I have to pull straight out and make a pretty sharp turn under power INTO traffic, Traction control activates because of the difference in wheel speeds even though it isn't slipping.

The second is on the track. You do not need to be running around like a fool with your ESC off, your car won't be any faster I promise. And even if you are it's a public ******* road-you are the reason my ******* insurance is so freakin' high. Thanks toolbags.

For the rest, ignore that.

I've been driving 20 years ..... never have had an accident . I'm not the reason your insurance is so "*******" high . My first car was a 72 nova with a 427.... at 16 years old . I need no lecture on driving my cobalt ....thanks anyways.

Yeah, I'm w/ Army on this. I always leave it on, unless I'm on track. On public roads, I've very rarely ever had the ESC/traction control kick in on me, even in full nanny mode. In Fairfax county, there is an unwritten rule:

Every mph over 90 gets you 1 night in the slammer.

It's true, and I've had friends test that little rule. It's there... Also, it is very easy to get reckless around here, which means a permanent criminal record. I'll pass.

Well it's different in California I guess. I have only had one accident. A lady pulled out in front of me and slammed on the brakes I ass ended her in a 72 blazer... Blazer 1 Toyota 0... I drive without the driving aides because this is the first car I have ever had that comes with it and I have driven faster cars without it. I guess I'm used to having something that you actually have to drive instead of just operate. There is another type of traction control... Its called the right foot. Traction control doesn't keep you from going 90. It also can't compensate for idiocy. If you drive like an idiot no amount of traction control will save you.
