ESC OFF? Traction still on?

Just a little info, I have the trifecta infiniboost tune and have had it for a bit now and have never had any problems with it. I always just switch it to comp mode and it was fine. Well today I tried ESC OFF and did a WOT run from 2nd gear and I start to wheel spin and it feels like traction control is kicking in. So I switch it back to COMP and I just spin the whole gear but ESC OFF seems like traction control is kicking in.. I thought ESC OFF was suppose to disable all traction and stability controls? I know it isn't my clutch slipping cause it would cut power and continue then cut off again, and COMP mode runs just fine.

With esc off, every stability and traction control should be off. I tried it in the snow and pulled some stupid stunts that would have been prevented with any form of traction or stability control

Yup! Just went for another test drive and tried both COMP and ESC OFF mode and same results. It feels as though in ESC OFF mode it pulls timing and the engine falls flat on its face then goes again, then around 6k it falls flat on its face yet again! Switched it back to COMP mode and runs perfect to redline! Just doesn't make sense to me that it would since i'm only turning off ESC and the tune doesn't change. Guess i'll have to email Vince@trifecta

Actually ive noticed this on my 08 sport. you switch both off and it feels like the car will still cut power if you turn the wheel at all. Almost got me hit several times now.

Yup! I got it to run to redline with ESC OFF fine without it cutting power on a nice level road but once I hit a road with some bumps and controlling the torque steer it cut back... But the weird thing is it doesn't do it in COMP mode, it runs freaking awesome no matter how much wheel spin and torque steer I get..

And it isn't misfiring, I've had my car misfire and it's nothing like that and no CEL's

Hmm, I took my SS/TC auto crossing with dirt on the pavement for some rally style driving. For this, I turned ESC off completely. I seemed then to have full ability to E-Brake the car in the turns and drift sideways while having the front wheels spinning the entire time with no efforts by the car to intervene in this chaotic motion.

This. OP, sounds like a weird issue... ESC OFF should definitely kill the TCS, too. Take it from the driver who never misses an opportunity to drive like a douchebag in a snowy parking lot.

I had traction control off but still had the ESC on this morning. I had the dang ESC kick in as I was spinning the tires LOL. It spoiled my fun really quickly. Turned it all the way off after that.

Wow old thread back to life. No u don't need a tune. Just hold on the traction control button for like 5 seconds and it will say esc off and ur good to go. Tune or no tune. Don't know what the issues on ops car was back in 2009 but it definitely should be turning everything off.
