If I don't break into the 10s in the quarter, I'm ok with that if I'm running awesome times and keeping up with these Subies and Evos on the Nurburgring! Damn you AWD guys! lol... but yeah, I appreciate the help and look forward to finishing this build and getting you guys some good #s on mine as well. Thanks again!

Also, does anyone have any comments or complaints about BC coilovers? I know KW v2 is the "best", but I can pick up a very slightly used set of BC's for $800!
Doing so without sacrificing spool time is....not that easy unless you go with a bigger ZFR as your friend is doing. I made 541 on a mustang dyno with a 256, if you go to a dyno jet you could easily do it on one of the stock bolt on turbos. And I would actually suggest that if you're planning on road racing more so. The car's suspension is superb and works well with even the stock turbo. I would start talking to John Powell about suspension/mods, etc if you're looking for that. Make a better handling car, don't just through globs of HP at it, the car already handles amazing.

A good person to talk about handling is Omiotek on the forums. A good buddy of mine who road races his car and has a vast knowledge base about it. He works closely with Powell on alot of things.

BC coilovers are very good, especially for the price. They come with rear inverted bodies as well. Most others don't. KW v2 aren't necessarily the 'best'. Stance, BC, and KWs, and B&Gs are all decent level entry coils, but if you want a really good set going to spend some major many.

Either way BCs are fine. Grab them!

Thanks for the reply Scythe Snake... I'll probably get the BC's for sure now. So would the Treadstone kit with a DBB 6262 be a good setup for me you think?

It's the Synapse kit with GT2871r... not a bad little upgrade, but they've come a ways since then!

6262 is too much turbo for what you want to. a 6262 is a lot fo turbo. something in the 57 range would be more optimal. A bolt on turbo ZFR/Wr-3 would be better for what you want to do on the road course man. If you do want a t3/t4 turbo kit. The zzp/pwerks kit with a 256 or 5557/5758 setup will be what you want. I was waiting for you to reply to my last Pm so we could talk more in depth about yoru setup

I know it's big, but I can always get it tuned down a little, and then have room to go up if I ever want to, right?! Has anybody tried it? If not, somebody has to be the guinea pig, right? LOL

For some reason, road racing a fwd car with 500+whp does not sound like a good idea. Youre never gonna make good use of that power.

Where's Wangspeed at?

Your completly right. If you look at performace autowerks in their track cars they were using the k04+. This was because the quick spool out of corners and stock look and feel. Gave the extra little boost that it needed. 500+ on a road course is gonna be stupid IMHO. I will be tracking my car and it will be tuned to about 400

Actually its b/c of certain NASA rules that they used the K04+ but yeah, I get your point.

Well, if your smart, your not going to whip around corners at full throttle. As long as you can drive the car within it's means, and only open it up to the max when the time allows, then what's wrong with having the extra power. Also, manual boost controller is your friend if you don't wanna go all out! Right?!

6262 is a bad choice for road racing. Too much lag. Get something smaller and more responsive loke scythe snake suggested.

I don't think that's a better choice either. Not on a Cobalt at least. You're gonna hate coming out of turns with a S256.

Sounds like someone needs to just buy a different car with more hp, your not going to get "500" and spool on even a 256 turbo. Still going to spool at 4000 rpms and take a couple seconds for good response. But I will say this, if you race good and know how to keep the car in the power better the response will be better. Smaller turbo like the efr and a killer suspension set up is where you need to look.

That's exactly what I told him as well, Chris. I already convinced him to look at his suspension first and try that out.

Ok, so getting some negative feedback on what Scythe Snake and I discussed, so does anyone have a better idea that'll get me in the 450+ whp on built 2.1L, ported heads, cams, meth, and pump gas? I'm all yours, because Snake has had a few different setups, and is just giving advice from his personal experience, which is what I like. I'm not looking to make it PURE track built, but get something that I'll be happy with in all areas...

wouldnt a 5557 or 252et be some of the primer choices for track i mean he could even do gud on a revised bnr but the bnr wont hit 450 and i dnt think the 252et would either, but like stated earlier do your suspension and as u rack up track time u will refine what u want in the end and reinforce the areas u may lack in. get the car on the track first b4 throwing money into the car, your kind of guessing the outcome before even driving, 400 may be the best option for you on the track in the long.

we can all play the "wut if" game all day u might get 450 n not use it all on the track.

I spend a lot more time on the Autobahns than I do on the track, so like I said, having that extra little power for highway pulls would be nice too. I can drive, so adjusting to a slightly longer spool time to have those few extra horses won't be a big issue for me. After all the money I just put into getting a built 2.1, I'd like to push it a little, ya know! If I wanted to stop at 415 whp, I wouldn't have wasted my money.

Now you want 450 whp on pump gas? You will need at least a 259 but then the lags going to suck for corners. You need to buy a light v8 so you can make that power with ease na.

I know, I am just saying even with the 2.1 and head the spool is going to be 4000 I bet if not a little more.

I got 449whp on 27psi on the s256et on pump gas. It was a one pull tune. You can't run that much boost constantly your gonna knock like a bitch.

Get outta here! haha. I suggested a bolt on turbo and suspension upgrades as well. :P

He wants to make a little bit of power as well, which is where the hard decision comes in. A bolt on turbo will land him high 300s, low 400s (mustang dyno). he wants a bit more than that on pump and meth. The 256 will get him the low 400s, on a super aggressive (not safe) tune it will get him a little bit higher and with that setup the spool wouldn't be super killer, depending on a/r size as well. But yes it wouldn't be optimal for a "perfect" balanced setup. He also has the meth factor.

They don't make the 55-57 anymore. And I told him the 252et is a good turbo. Spools like stock....but in that case he may as well go with a ZFR, and would probably make a bit more power too.

Oh yeah it will be up there either way with a t3/t4 setup, but better with those factors.
