Not yet.. I am so close all I need is my charge pipes welded up and exhaust (I have people setup for both). I have hit some bumps in the road (i.e. Wife losing her job, wedding bills, etc). I should be doing it this year or January. All depends on my bonus check....... and what the wife says.

The Wisecos do indeed come pregapped... but not to GM specs. They are gapped wider due to their likely use with increased heat (more boost, nitrous, etc).

To my knowledge, Cubaniche is running his Wisecos with the gap they came with without issue.

Yes they are pregapped, rather nicely actually. When I did mine I put one of the stockers in a cylinder and one of the wisecos in the cylinder next to it and the difference was very discernible. Now, if you plan on much more power I guess you would gap them slightly more. Also, I found that pretty much every bolt in the block and head are TTY. Looks like your going all out so I wouldnt reuse any of the bolts you remove in IMHO.

Good Luck!

I didnt think they would come with GMs specs and I wasnt sure if you wanted GMs specs for the aftermarket pistons anyway... I didnt use GM specs, mine was equation based..

So what do you guys think? We are doing this build in the garage. Since we have to do the clutch and internals should we pull the motor? (well drop the motor since that is easier) It seems way too difficult to do a clutch job on your back.

Well it's easier to drop it to do it. It will be easier to spec the bearings and all that good stuff. You are going to balance the crank aren't you, the wiseco are lighter than stock.

I would pull the motor out, you'll be almost 90% there anyways. plus, isn't it true that some of these lnf blocks have had defects in them, some sort of "porous" thing where coolant leaks into the oil pan? looking over your block wouldn't be a bad idea, especially with the money you'll be putting into it. my .02

Ok, that is what I thougt. I was telling Nick last night that it will be easier to drop the motor out. Yes I am talking to my shop today to get that done.

Drop the whole thing out of the car. It will take less time in the end and you will be able to work on everything so much easier.

Just got done on the phone with wiseco for my stuff. They said the top ring minimum should be .005/inch of bore, or about .0169" and the second ring should be .0055 for the second ring. Thats for someone wanting to make 5-600hp. Heres my theory on the broken ringlands. GM allows .0078 on the top ring, so that means that someone pushing the stock turbo to the max is creating alot of heat and cause that ring to be warped when they cant grow anymore. Maybe thats why its hit or miss, the broken ones are more on the tighter side and the ones that dont break are on the looser end. What do people think?
