Fuel effeciency
been pushing my TC for gas milage been getting 33 mpg. i was woundering is there any way i can improve this besides driveing habbits, i do that already. like tune avalible for MPG? can i use Midgrade instead of Premium? anything would help out.
another question. would going CF trunk, hood, and spoilerless improve MPG? also are the fiber glass fenders lighter than the stocks?

Different fuel will only save 2-5 bucks per fill up, not worth the risk to damage and the reduced performance. If you want to run regular see if you can buy your base cobalt back. One thing you can do is meth injection, that should help all around.
not to be a dick but please sell the car to me i will run the **** out of it. this is not a car to buy
for gas mileage, although i did tell my wife it was our commuter car and got great gas mileage.

In theory you could run 87 on the stock tune file. I see in your sig that you're running Trifecta. If that is the case, premium is definitely needed. Even GMS1 requires premium. Besides, I don't see dropping to a midgrade fuel helping you with mileage.
If you had hptuners you could play with the tune and get a little better milage out of it. I could see adding or pulling boost or ramping boost in slower at certain rpms helping make it more efficient. you have to remember the more air your car is getting the more power and efficient it will be.... to a point. When you start to boost your still making more power but not as efficient cause added fuel. A happy medium is going to land you the best possible MPG. Adding a little timing helps make sure all the fuel is burned making it more effiecient, and possibly a little cam phasing would help. I havnt seen anyone design a tune for gas milage yet but i have thought about it and would love to see what adjustments help the most.

i sold it do to the 10 mpg it started getting for some odd reason. put 5K into the car in parts to fix issue and didnt fix it. plus had over 100k miles
Surprisingly I hadn't heard about these split fire plugs, but I did a short amount of research. I found this wiki article, basically saying they was controversy about their effectiveness.

wasnt concerned about MPG till recently. i love the SS cobalts and wanted one since i seen them, got stuck with a lemon LS. finaly got a chance to sell it and got the SS now with the gas priceing riseing and continuing to increase its become a concern. make $10 per hour and go to school part time. pay all own bills.
Gas goes up every spring. You didn't notice this before?
The Cruze was built to run on 87. There is nothing about it that makes it a performance car. The Cobalt and most turbo cars aren't. Being cheap to save $0.20/gal is going to be way more expensive long term when you wreck your engine.

Stop knocking him for wanting better mileage. Some people want their cake and to eat it too. I love the fact that these cars can move pretty quick AND get respectable mileage. He just wants to move quick with great mileage. Some people get hard over MPGs while others fight about the WHPs. Who wouldnt mind a happy medium?

so true man Its hard....I am in the same boat but hey Spring break is coming that means a work week with Over time.
anyways when I did a lot of driving for my old job the best I got was 35mpg.
I did everything the short shifting, NO boost but what I found to work the best was when use cruze and always set it about 1-2mph slower then the speed limit. yes you are driving like an old person but it works

thats awsome man. 35mpg is what im wanting. i got a short 19 mile trip unless going to classes that day then double that. i have to many stop signs i think hurts the mileage. i used the ford nav and found the most feul effecent route to work and back.
Find someone who will give you a tune for MPG. I've asked Vince a few times, but it's a no go, but I do remember someone who did their own tune for MPG and got like 39 or so. You might look in the hypermile forum here, that's where I think I saw him post
I drive 66 miles a day in rush hour traffic and get 26-27, my highest was 28 for a couple of weeks, so really you should be happy with 33. Isn't 33mpg 3 mpg higher than what GM says the car gets?
