GM future kit sensor question

I know...I know...another kit thread. Forgive me.

If our MAP sensor is good for 2.5 bar and 1 bar = ~14.5 psi at sea level, why do we need upgraded sensors with the future kit?

Our sensors are good for over 36 psi if they are indeed 2.5 bar and ~29 psi if they are 2 bar sensors.

Our little turbos can't make that much boost, can they?

Anyone know the range of the stock sensors for sure?

You are forgetting that you must subtract atmospheric pressure from your calculations. 36.75 psi-14.7 psi=22.0 psi for the 2.5 bar

Ahhh...I see said the blind man, the old absolute pressure issue. Thank you, I didn't know the range of the sensors was absolute. Thanks.

Your welcome. With 3 bar sensor we can tune for up to 29 psi, but the stock turbo will surge like crazy at those speeds and will g out and come apart. Aftermarket turbo definately needed.

Ok, thanks for the info. I'm pretty happy with the Trifecta tune and I see blips to 22 psi but a little above 20 is the norm I've seen WOT.
I'd need a driver mod for any more power out of it right now.

I come from rwd cars. High powered fwd is a lot harder to drive well.

I'm way old school. First car was a '65 Chevell Malibu SS inherited from my brother. 327 4 bbl. 4 spd. Wish it hadn't rusted to the ground. Other RWD cars included '83 TA 5 spd., 88 Formula 350 (only came in Auto, no T-tops) and the current keeper in my sig. 2002 TA WS6. It has 19,000 miles on it and only comes out when it's dry & sunny.

I agree. Overpowered FWD is a challenge to drive well.
