Learn how to drive you dumb ****. I hear so many ******* sob stories about how the stock GM/AC Delco rotors are warped already, FOR NO ******* REASON, but that's BULLSHIT! They wear out because of how you ******* drive. If you constantly catch up to people on the freeway, and have to slam on the brakes, or you go bumper to bumper in the city, ride your brakes down the hill, or just come to a screeching halt at the bottom, OF COURSE THEY'RE GOING TO WARP! It's called heat, *******.

Stop bitching, learn how to drive properly, and fix your ******* brakes.
My rotors are warped at 40k miles. Does that make me a dumb ****, too?

Find a new dealer man. One that realizes that brakes maybe a wear item but warpage and excessive wear is not normal wear and tear. Dont pay for brakes unless you absolutely have to.

Who invited the *******??

If you knew what you were talking about you would know that GM actually has a recall out on the front rotors. I went in to my local dealer to have my defective rear pads taken care of and they wouldnt let me leave without replacing my front rotors.... and I wasnt even having a problem yet! The service writer said that GM put out a recall for the front rotors warping and for all dealers to replace them right away no matter what the vehicle was brought in for. So take a deep breath and dont jump down this guys throat for asking a question...everyone has had this problem, and he wasnt even complaining just asking for advice. So calm down

To the OP tell your dealer to look up the recall, then tell them to fix your ******* brakes! If not Id call GM's customer service direct and let them know whats going on. Its already a widely know problem, and it should be addressed without an issue. Like I said when I brought my car in the recall came right up when the service writer put in what kind of car I had, I didnt even ask.

First of all, the front rotors on certain VIN's were recalled forr "warping", and as far as back rotors being "scored", that's also true. It's supposedly due to the high metal content of the pads. I just had my dealer resurface mine 800 miles ago, and guess what? They are getting scored AGAIN. I dont really care, seeing as it hasnt affected performance, and I drive ALL highway, and never ride my brakes, easy pumps. You are technically supposed to brake VERY hard ever thousand miles or so, to "reset" your calipers/pads. Maybe you should really look into the Cobalt problems/service before you go apeshit on someone.

To the OP...MAKE the dealer fix them. The first dealer I took mine too, they said what they were told to say, "The grinding noise is normal for these brakes." The second dealer looked at my rotors, and fixed them that day. You bought this car with a warranty, so you should be entitled to the service when needed. If you are "*******" your car, IE driver error, then dont take advantage of the warranty, because it makes it harder on the "honest" owners. But from the sounds of your complaints, this problem is not your fault. Get it fixed bro.

there is no after market rotors for our cars yet. so we have to settle for Crate engine depot's (CED) oem style replacement and put aftermarket solstice rear pads on...i haven't heard of anyone having problems with this set up...you can also just get your rotors resurfaced if they aren't that bad

brakes = consumable. I get 8 track weekends out of my brakes. The pads wear out, the rotors crack (not warp).

Most of the time people who think their rotors are warped just have pad deposits on their rotors.

whoever was claiming that tailgating causes warped rotors must be dumb as rocks. repeated 99% capacity braking from 140+ to 60 (at the road race track) for 25 minutes at a time usually doesn't even cause rotor warping, just pad failure and fluid boiling if you use street pads and cheap fluid. If you ride your brakes for 20 miles and then stand on the brake pedal for the entire time they cool off, you might get warped rotors.

Ding Ding Ding, we have a winner.

90% of all "warped rotor" posts are usually the pads. Be it deposits or just poor wear/bedding.

Does anyone know if he can use Solstice rotors too? If so then these would help. http://store.r1concepts.com/Items/It...ine%20-%20Rear Maybe the Saab rotors are in there too? I did not know which Saab vehicle to search for.

I've bought their cheapest rotors for my car and were very good quality at a great price.

I was on rockauto seeing if they stocked rear rotors cheap, and they don't really... but anyway the P/N they list has the following x-ref fitment. Not sure if theres anything offered to the HHR guys that we havent seen yet, but worth looking into. 2009 Obviously just not listed yet in that list :P sometimes those lists arent always correct too so YMMV.

If its correct, looks like the Sky/Solstice dont use the same rear rotor... which isnt a big shock.

EDIT: Looks like a few people make "performance" rotors for the cars that use 11.7" rear like the SS's.

Quote: AFAIK there is noone that makes any aftermarket rotors for the SS/TC, front or rear. The only reason we have rear pads is because we share them with the solstice.
i heard as well with Saab 9/5, but my dealer wanted to change the pads, but optied to wait until my S-MAx intercooler is intstalled to do it..

None will work for the SS Turbo because our rear rotors are not 11.7". They are bigger.

Yup, these are not OEM Camry pads ; high performance pads need to be bedded in properly. I have a couple of track sessions and a lot of hard canyons with large elevation changes with no rotor issues.

How many of you followed proper bed-in procedure?

Are you sure about all of those cars?

Looking at the EBC catalog it looks like some of the G6's got 11.7" rear rotors and a couple other cars too.

i had the same problem.........and i think i know why this keeps happening

our 2.2s rear drum breaks tend to go out of adjustment........when they are out of adjustment our front brakes work harder causing the front rotors to warp.

to fix this get your rear drums adjusted and then just get your rotors cut........should cost less than 150 for everything including labor
