GMS1 dilemma??

Lots of people talk about the gms1 tune "dying" after 5K rpm's. I never thought about although I myself have had this tune for a few months. Guess I never noticed this weakness til lately....... Yes guess it is so, I did notice a weakening past a certain rpm. So my question , how can I remedy this without another tune on top AND without voiding warranty? Cold plugs, short ram, downpipe?

Tune or bigger turbo. The GM tune protects the turbo at high rpm's by keeping it from overspooling.

The stock turbo runs out of oomph above 6500 rpm anyway. My 27-24 psi tune tapers to 18psi at 7k. More flow than the tiny turbo can keep the pressure up for. They run the tune too lean in the high load mid rpm range for emissions sake also.

I think the question is does the gms1 tune still
make more power than stock even after it drops off? If it does then I wouldn't worry about it... It's still plenty fast IMO

Oh btw thanx to those for the advice on how bad the 07 sti is. If I go sti in a few years guess the 05 would be the best choice. Did the research

If you look at the dynos before and after it drops to within 2-3 whp of stock power above 5800 or so. Tuning on top helps a lot but GM still has it clamped down some as far as airloads are concerned. Dang torque limiting features. Putting the adjustable pill back on with the Modded stage 1 tune. That will fix it.

Hmm ya i dunno I find the stage1 tune plenty fast for my needs and warranty if ya wanna go faster then spend more and do more with a risk of damage .. Does sound like a fail safe for the turbo
