GMS1 sensors

can someone post the GM part numbers on the GMS1 sensors, also isnt there a company that sells the pigtail adapters so they just plug and play and you dont have to cut and solder them

I might have to look into that. I bought mine with the GMS1 already installed and I'm having issues all the time with lost power and a CEL flagging one of the sensors. I'm not sure how they actually installed it but I'm guessing they didn't use the adapters. I can't believe the sensors themselves are that cheap. I guess with the GMS1 you're mostly paying them for the tune.

Has anyone had success fixing their GMS1 issues using the adapter harness.......or in any other way for that matter?

The problem is that the dealer install requires them to cut the stock harness.

So the adapters are pretty much useless after they cut your harness.

Your best bet is to find out who installed GMS1 on your car and tell them your issue and to rewire/solder the connection.

I have HPTuners, do I need a GM stage 1 file to be able to use the sensors?

I think there is a GMS1 tune in the repository.

I used the pigtails. GMS1 sensor went from a nightmare to a 10-minute job. Best money I ever spent.

So I just had a GM rep search my VIN in their database to see if they had a record of where my GMS1 was installed, and they have no record of it being installed. How is this possible? I definitely have the sensors and when it's not in limp mode I can easily boost over 20 psi so I'm assuming that I have it but I'm confused why there's no record of it.

You might just have an HPT tune with the 3 bar sensors. That's the hard part about used cars: you never know what has been done to them.

GM doesnt keep track of dealership non-warranty claim repairs or installs, that is the dealers responsibility.

If you want to know if its installed, a dealer tech can check which ecm cal is installed.

Really there is no log of GM install on a car? If so that's terrible as you couldn't prove the dealership installed something and force them to fix it without a receipt.

Doesn't sound right to me. Makes me want to run mine.

Yeah I know. But honestly if I could just pay a dealer $200 to redo the connections and it actually was sucessful it would be worth it to me.

On another note, I took a look at my sensors last night and found something interesting. First of all, I don't know how you're 'supposed' to install the lower TMAP sensor, but there is like no clearance whatsoever between the wire end of the sensor and this large black plastic screen (not sure what it is). The wires coming from the sensor are jammed up against that black plastic part which seems to me could cause issues, unless mine was installed wrong. Also, the 'boss' that the install instructions tell you to remove was not removed. I removed it, but then looked and was confused as to why. There was nothing at all in the area that that boss could have come into contact with. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, one of the wires on the lower TMAP was partially stripped and some of the copper wire was exposed. I put some electrical tape around it but don't really know how much that will help.

Any thoughts?

Also, OP, make sure the wires aren't resting against the A/C line by the lower MAP sensor. I had the tech zip tie the wires away from it.

Actually I think the way it was installed was wrong. When looking at the lower TMAP sensor from the front should it be facing towards the front bumper (white wires on front bumper side), ot facing towards the AC compressor (wires facing the rear of the vehicle)? Mine are jammed up against the black thing and I feel like based on the comments I've heard it's supposed to be facing towards the AC compressor, hence the issues with corrosion from the AC compressor.

If someone could let me know for sure that would be great, my issues could be solved simply from flipping it around.

Thanks!

Stock sensor was facing toward the A/C compressor. Some have had luck flipping the sensor around and having the wires the other way, toward the fan shroud.

This weekend I tried to flip around the lower TMAP sensor so that the wires are going towards the AC compressor/rear of the car, and failed. How on earth is it installed this way? There is hardly any room between the charge pipe and the AC compressor. Anyone know how you're supposed to get it in there? To make things worse I damaged the oring in the process

I bought the car with the GMS1 sensors already attached. I'm just wondering how the heck you install it the right way because it didn't look like there was any room at all for it to it.

Here is a pic of mine, with the adapters. I'm facing the A/C compressor. I couldn't fit the other way:

That's interesting, it's almost as if my charge pipe is in a different spot on my car or something. There's definitely not that much space on mine. Also, mine barely fit with it installed the other way, and even then they don't really fit because the wires are jammed up against the plastic fan screen or whatever it is.
