Got GMS1 installed today!!!

All I can say is WOW! 3rd gear is the new second gear. Boosting 22-24psi. Second gear has become useless like first was before the kit. Got the boost tube recall fixed. Of course everybody was driving slower than I wanted to go on the way home and did a 55 to 100 pull around a left lane rider. Torque steer took me by suprise and good thing I had the car pointed in the right direction. Got pulled in the other lane by the torque steer and passed him in a split second. Short shifted into 4rd and rode it for a second and once I lifted was already at 100. Well worth the money. Stock airbox mod and catless DP here I come.

I got to wait until the end of the month and see how much of a "financial incentive" we get from work !

Of course, the POS house has also decided that it wants some $'s thrown at it , too - greedy bastage.

Hell, I put a new HVAC system in this summer.

ARRRGH !!

Glad to hear it went well for you - I am anxious ! I have been blabbing about this dam kit at work for about 6 months now - I.E. as long as I have owned the car .

I am sure everyone is tired of hearing about it - you think they would have taken the hint & started up a Stage Kit fund for me.

Slackers ...

Enjoy !

Britt

P.S. Check your mileage - I hear it actually goes up if you can keep your foot out of it .

The guy who installed my kit was awesome. You gonna love it. Problem with milage is i only drive 7-10 miles round trip going no faster than 45mph. Keep me up to date with your dealership.

Thumbs up It's ON !!!

I have not really been able to try it out - so far, just on the trip back from the dealer. I did romp on it in second to get thru a yellow light and heard the sound of the tires squealing at around 30 or so !

I noticed it boosting to around 20 - it may go higher, but again that was within my very limiteddrive time.

I am almost anxious to go to work Monday to get a chane to play w/ it for 20 miles.

Then again, I may do a little recreational driving tomorrow.

While I was wandering around at the delaer, I saw a HHR SS auto. I wonder why they build that in an auto, but not the SS/TC's ?

I wanted a stick, so al is good, but just curious as the HHR shares the same powertrain , and IIRC the same platform as the 'Balt.

I had mine installed the day before thanksgiving, It is out of control. it seems twice as quick. I am about to take it on an 7 hour trip to ny, I was only getting 20 psi out of mine, I never stayed in it past third gear, its hard enough to hold on to the wheeler between 2nd and 3rd. Does it really hit 25 psi? Whats the best way to take off in the car at stand still in a race?

I just got my stage 1 installed about 3 days ago and today had some time to play around.
Im happy however I dont get what everyone is saying about tq steer and all that. I still feel 100% in control of what and where the car is going. only been getting 20lbs of boost or so. I installed a aem intake today and am waiting on a issue to pop up using it but I really like how it sounds and wasnt to bad to install. down pipe is in the mail and I am done might try and hit up the track sunday if its nice.

And the torque steer is DEFINATELY there, but it's easily controlled. You know?

Torque steer is more evidant on certain roads, if the road has groves in it it is out of control.

damn... 22psi? Yeah I plan on getting my GM Stage 1 next month. Just patiently waiting for my next three checks to get here bi-weekly. I plan on getting off of crateenginedepot.com. They never mention the car pushing from 15 to 22psi. How much RPM do you gain?

My car stock was boosting about 14-16 peak. And now I am 18-21 peaking. I have never hit 22 psi in my car in Florida. But then again, I got it put on the beginning of this month, so it's cooled down.

Exclamation I hit 22 psi a little while ago.

This is in Houston, and it is 70 degrees out. Got some more tire squeal at 30 ish in 2nd and did some NLS's on the highway ( 3rd to 4th, 4th to 5th @ 6K ) w/ no problems, and no lights.

There is one ramp to get on 59 North at Sugar Lakes Blvd - it's fairly short & steep. I started at about 20 in 2nd and shut it off at 80 or so in 4th - NO PROBLEMS getting up to freeway speed in that distance.

Torque Steer is there, but I'd agree that it is less abrupt and more controlled - meaning you know it is going to do it, and it sort of gives a warning tug of the wheel to give you time to grab ahold.

Since the warranty is still intact, and I now have as much UMMPH outta this car as I will ever need, I am happy, and consider it $'s well spent.

Great Job, Bill - Thanks !

Great to see you got it installed and no problems. Gotta love that 3rd gear pull!

From a dead stop traction is going to be your enemy. With mine even punching it from a second gear roll on certain roads spins like crazy. From a dead stop taking off like normal driving and then rolling into the throttle will net you the best results. Using launch control will most likely hurt more than help.

I have a question/concern that I hope someone can address for me. I installed the the GMS1 into my car the other day and I am taking it to the dealership today to have the car flashed. Anyhow, my question is this; Now with this GMS1 they claim I will be at 280hp/320tq, give or take. What I am curious about is that if I buy a superchips programmer will I see much more for gains? Or does the GM flash push me to the limit w/o going with a custom tune? I am planning on going with the Hahn charge piping, intake and exhaust shortly and I was originally going to go with the PPC tuner from Hahn but the research I have done basically makes me think that the PPC tuner is way over priced vs Superchips. I just dont want to spend the money on any programmer though if I am not going to see any real gains since I am going to have the GM flash ect.ect.

The superchips is a canned tune and won't be compatible with your new sensors from the stage kit.

If you want to tune on top of the S1, get HP Tuners or someone with it to help you. Any other tune except a Trifecta custom (if Vince supports the S1) will be problems.

I love my Stage 1, I dyno'd the same day I picked the car up from getting it installed and I was very pleased with the numbers it put down!

Next move will be charge piping and a CATTED downpipe. Also, I might get rid of my Dejon SRI and go with the Airbox mod....but idk, I do like the SRI.

I want to see a video of GMS1 vs a stock car. I am trying to justify this as an xmas gift for my little brother. I like the gains but i hate that the dyno's show it falling off above 4500 rpm, although i guess it could be running out of breath.

I guess on that train of thought....If you sell that SRI let me know :p

Ask and you shall receive; this gives you an idea of the difference in pull (note: this is a Canadian model so your numbers would be 60-120 mph ):

Superchips isn't going to be able to tune a stage 1 car........the car's programing needs to be stock or else the SC tuner wont upload the tune. I want to run a stage 1 car and see what the outcome is .....I'm guessing they are making close to the same power .
