Grinding/pressure sound....

first real problem with the car besides my ebrake going out.

whenever i slow down I hear a grinding pressure sound/ its hard to explain. then i was going less than 5mph through my work and loud grinding sound occured.

sounds like it came from the right side.

taking it in friday.

Rotors are not gouged. Rims are not bent. brembos are clear.

Its the brakes. I got that same noise going on too, its kinda muffled and hard to hear though, not very loud. but I can still differentiate it from normal road noise to braking noises.

Steve, the way disc brakes work is you push the pedal, the fluid pressure forces a piston out, and the pad contacts the rotors. Now, when you release them, there is not a spring or return system, so the pads will always rub lightly on the rotor, even when you're not pushing the pedal. The only thing that pushes the piston/pad back into the caliper is the rotor, and the release of pressure. Now that i've read this, i bet if you check the inside rear right pad, there isn't one.

If it is the rear brakes this is good to know what it's gonna sound like so I'll know what to expect.

The slides probably are not lubed properly and that return spring for the parking brake is not always strong enough to release the pistons. I bet his inboard rear pads are metal to metal.

Ok so I've had my car for 2 weeks almost 3. It has 1061 on the odometer. I got it with 360 miles. Point is I just felt like going out and checking the back brake rotors just to see and they already have grooves. AT 1061 MILES!!! WTF. This is ******* bogus. I mean really? It makes no sense! AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

I feel a little better.

the pads are always touching the rotor a little, so if its down to metal, it will squeek and sound funny

The rear caliper never want to release right after being applied. I have no back seats in right now for a stereo project so I can hear it all clearly. After I take my e brake off, the rears scratch as if I was stopping. I am pretty sure my inner pad was gone at 10k miles

its normal if you had your radio turned off and your windows down to hear that especially at low speeds. but if it sounds more coarse than smooth on the rotors check the back part of the rotor. this happened to me on another car. it sounded bad but everything looked ok. one day i reached behind the rotor and felt everything and the caliper was digging some nice grooves into it. so be carefull
