Hahn Catback Question

I have not been able to find any information on this, but correct me if I am mistaken. I have looked at some product pictures, including those from Turbo Tech Racing's site.

It shows the Hahn 3" Cat back system in it's entirety. At the beginning end, it appears as though the pipe diameter necks down from 3" to something smaller before the flange.

This would indicate that the entire system is only as good as the smallest diameter, and this would be the necked portion.

Any thoughts or ideas to this? I thought the picture could be inaccurate, but I am very curious. If this is indeed true, I may be tempted not to buy the system.

its an adapter, they sell different ones including a 3" one, but whats it matter unless you change your downpipe also, which is the most restrictive part, considering it has 2 cats

It should be slightly smaller than 3", as 3" is the out side diameter, you have to subtract off the thickness of the tubing.... (all exhaust systems are measured this way)

This system is the 3" system for the LNF, and is a direct bolt up to the stock downpipe, Hahns cat-con downpipe, and Hahns cat-less downpipe

Not much power in the catback is only relative to the mods you may have, otherwise there can be serious gains.

Disagree with this, the Hahn cat back is good for 10-12 HP. Assuming you ONLY disable the learn down feature. There are a lot of gains to getting an exhaust system.

You will get more gains yet, by getting a downpipe, but an exhaust alone will still yield more power.

catbacks are pretty wasteful of money for the lnfs unless you're pushing alot of power

QFT, and to be honest, a catless downpipe on the stock catback sounds amazing

The stock cat back (on the ss/tc) goes as small as 2.5", if not smaller?

You are at 3" with your ss/sc, with 252 hp, and you are stating this?

The ss/tc makes about that much power stock... A 3" cat back will yield more power.

A few mods and a tune will send the LNF over 300 HP very easy, and IMO 3" is needed over 300hp

true story.. the only thing thats restrictive on the stock exhaust is the muffler .. a muff delete or swap will help out.. but a DP is the biggest gains for an lnf

you want the exhaust to be 1.5 times the opening of the outlet of the turbo, thats ball park

2" opening on my turbonetics = 3" downpipe/cutout

i dont think the opening on the stock LNF turbo is that big, considering its 2" on my 50 trim, but hey! i could be wrong

the outlet of the stock turbo is probably 1.5" -1.75" it's a tiny turbo

At what pressure? Air volume is a effect of the pressure output. That may be a rough number, but dont hold it true for everything.

A turbo pushing 8psi VS 20 PSI, the 20PSI will require a larger exhaust. Many members are pushing ~23 PSI...

So it is being stated the biggest exhaust the SS/TC needs is a 2.25"???? 1.5" X 1.5"

I have the 3 inch catless DP already, that is why I asked.

I removed my stock muffler and looked inside, it is straight through, just like a magnaflow, no baffles at all...

I love the sound of my hahn exhaust and it looks awsome but... and im sure im gonna get alot of people jumpin on my ballz for this, but i wouldnt buy the hahn exhaust again

For one, the tip cannot align straight to the factory bumper with out some massaging of the hangers...

Two, the placement of the secondary flange is absolutley retarded. It is not impossible to disconnect the muffler but while its on the car it is awfully hard to reach those rediculously located bolts...

With that being said, the exhaust sounds great and is for sale for 450$

I had no problems at all with mine. Tip was dead center of the bumper hole, and i had no prob getting to the flange by the rear axle. I do LOVE the sound of mine too tho!
