Hahn Exhuast Install
Hahn Exhuast Install
Anybody have a problem where the Hahn exhaust sits too low? Everything seems nice and tight, no leaks, used the old exhaust hangers, and it's touching the rear axle. It's also sitting a bit low immediately ahead of the rear axle. Any ideas on what it might be or something that I missed on the install. Thanks.
I wouldn't worry the exhaust is the ****. I love it. If its sitting correctly it shouldn't make any rattling noises and it should be tucked up under the car pretty well. Maybe you guys need to do some adjusting or try to get some better rubber hangers.
I double checked hangars and they're all good. It looks like it'd have plenty of clearance if the exhaust was sitting 1/2 inch forward on the car. I wonder if the connection at the 3-bolt flange isn't on far enough.
It looks like it's on far enough. When I lowered it back down, it had about 1/2 inch of clearance. I started the car up a few times and it started touching again. Something must be loose.
Ill bet, the straps and joint nuts got tighten before checking it for clearance.. and the pipe touchin the floor/frame or supsension in some way.. to stop this from happening..
1: loosen all of the straps and both joint nuts, (because if you tighten the strap, you wouldn't have any play in the pipes to get clearance to the floor/ frame/ suspension or anything else..)
2: slide the "S" pipe back and fourth to give that pipe some play (this is the "S" pipe before the muffler and suspenion)
3: where the "S" pipe makes it first turn - make sure there is at least 1'' clearance from the floor/frame on both sides of the pipe
4: at the end of the turn on the "S" pipe make sure there is at least 1'' clearance so the pipe isnt touching any part of the suspension or frame, so the muffler can move and not touch the rear bumper cover
5: now move the tail pipe up and down and look to see if the pipe is touching anything else, if so adjust the "S" pipe and muffler until the pipe isnt touching anything
6: now tighten the straps and both joint nuts
now none of the exhaust pipes shouldnt be touching anything either the frame or floor or supsension

understand, if anyone here has a lowered car, then it's going to most likely sit on the rear torsion beam. My car is lowered on progress springs and koni shocks and struts. Mine rested on the rear beam, and I had to adjust it in a specific way to get it to clear whether I had one or four people in the car. If you'd like to know then send me a pm. that way it won't clutter this thread.
