Hahn Tuner
good question. Wish i had an answer for that one. It does give you good gains but i would rather find a tuner or get an HP tuner and try to tune it yourself. I have been absorbing as much info on tuning as I can to try and pick it up
Pretty much what everyone else said is the truth. I bought a handheld SCT tuner for my Mustang, and for the tuner and CAI, it was $700. And the SCT handheld tuner does the same for my Mustang as the Hahn tuner does for the SS/TC. There is some people my Wifes co-worker knows who all they do is work on cars and tune and pretty much said they would either tune me for free, or really, really cheap.
The cost of the Hahn tuner is the only holding me back from buying. I will await the 1st quarter of 09 for the supposed "GM Stage Kit" to see how good a deal it is and will make my decision accordingly
It's my understanding (please question this comment) that the unit is from Europe and they charge Hahn a sizable fee to use the device. Hahn then loads his program and adds some to compensate for his efforts. I am not sure that this is correct.
Fair price for an item you use one time and is then useless? You can't even use it on another cobalt. I mean maybe for about $500 it would be a good price. But for $1000? No thanks I'll buy HP tuners for $500 and do it myself
I agree... I would have bought it already if it wasn't 1000 dollars... 500 would be alot better since it is only for use on car.
I always thought it was a good idea if they would charge like $1000 like they do but have like a deposit you get back when you are done and send it back to hahn and then they can send it back to whenever they get it, cuz i'm sure they can recharge it somehow and use it again. That way you could get some of your money back if you send it back. I know it sounds crazy but well I guess so is spending a $1000 lol
You will spend far less money and acheive better results having it dyno tuned or street tuned, although the later can be very dangerous for you and other drivers,. For $1000 you are better of buying an intake, downpipe and custom dyno tune. Dont get me wrong the ppc does bump the power significantly over stock, but you can gain an extra 15-25whp and trq for half of that price.
I am also waiting to see if the price comes down...right now I am thinking the GM stage kit with its CAI will not be able to be beat price-wise....let's see if Hahn can come through...I really want to get the Hahn CAI if possible.....
If you saw the few tables you actually had to adjust, you would feel dumb for buying the PPC if you had the patience to learn.
Plus the HPT forum isn't going to let you fail, all you have to do is go over there and read and there is a write up completely on pretty much how to take away the stock torque management, push boost to 22psi and if you want you can add timing, which is stupid easy as well.

Dude, I just wish I could do this with someone else, I'm in ******* Hawaii and its ******* Import Central over here. No one uses HP tuner. I wish I could hang BACK in the states at shops to learn hands on. Its just how I am.
Tuning the lnf is idiot proof with hptuners, its the other engines that need some skill.
The ppc may be maxing the boost level out, but there is another 20whp or so to be had with some more tuning. Psycostevo and my tuner can attest to that. Ppc tuner and 91 octane= 270 whp 93 octane 289 whp. Custom dyno tune can take you over 300whp.
