Help with Oil Temp Gauge Install

I got this gauge the other day.

Tinted Oil Temperature Gauge

I don't know how many other people here have installed Oil Temp Gauges on their LNF's, but I was curious exactly how you went about it. Where did you install the temp probe or whatever else your gauge used to read temp. Thanks in advance.

Im pretty sure its the same as other cars, so you would un plug the oem sending unit, replace it with a T fitting and then plug the oem one and new unit into the T ends.

Quick question I know that gauge is not as expensive as a interceptor, But doesn't it read oil pressure?

This one pretty much just looks like a probe that reads temp

there are some places on the side of the head that is a good spot for this. drivers side, you would use an allen wrench to pull one out. 95% sure mine is plugged into the front bottom of the 4.

i would get a dashdaq, but thats probably out of ur price range, but ya for oil temp on of on the drivers side of the head u can unscrew a fitting and stick ur sender in there, dont try that for oil pressure guage though, will get wrong reading, thats a whole diff pita

I circled it in red, you take the cap out and put this in (you have to have an adapter for the end of the sensor. I know its an autometer sensor, not sure on part number

Oil pressure would have been a better choice I think. That plus an interceptor.

There are three oil galley plugs below the exhaust manifold, the far left can be used for pressure and I assume temperature without messing with the factory sending unit.

Tom, I don't think that location will work very well for an LNF or LSJ since we have an Oil Cooler there.

And I agree with 1Panel2NV. Oil Temp is a useless gauge on this car. Oil Pressure would have been a better purchase.

oh, true story. You can also use the port where i currently have my other sensor (oil pressure) although i need to move it to get an accurate reading lol. Its the shiney unit behind the one i listed up top.

And I would say having both is good. Nice to know if you have gone out of the heat cycling range of your oil or if you are running uber hot for some reason (although this will also show with low oil pressure). I have both for good measure :P

The LNF's and LSJ's with their Stock Oil Coolers shouldn't run into that problem. They're made to hold up to lap after lap after lap after lap of tracking the car.

what if you bypass the stock oil cooler. and by that i mean take it out of the loop of the coolant. then take an LSJ coolant pump for there SCs and a small radiator and run the stock oil cooler on its own path with its own coolant.

NVM. my bad. didnt realize you didnt have an LNF or LSJ

External Oil Cooler. SummitRacing... search for Oil Cooler.

I think the 2.2's Oil Cooler holes don't line up with those of the LSJ and LNF... so an SS Oil Cooler is probably out of the question. That's what someone else told me, at least.

I assumed he had an LSJ or LNF. and running the oil cooler with its own coolant is possible and thats what I thought he was asking. However its def not needed what so ever

It's actually the far right of the three. The left one is the oil feed for the turbo. I can try and get a better picture tomorrow with the engine out of the car.

There isn't much room, so I remote mounted my sending unit, but this is where the plug is that I was talking about.
