Question Is high clutch grab with the LNF normal?

I know that for the LSJ, the factory grab is pretty high per this thread -> https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/show...=adjust+clutch

Just wondering if this also applies to the LNF as this is what I am noticing now with my 09 SS/TC at 380 miles normal driving.

Thanks ahead for input.

My ss/tc isn't here yet, but I can tell you that even from a couple of test drives--one of each coupe and sedan--my initial impression was that both cars had very high clutch friction points

I say this high. High enough to make me ask the question, and I've been driving nothing but manual for 22 years.

Thanks for the input so far.

Well atleast for the LSJ, the clutch tends to engage high (about halfway through pedal travel, maybe a bit more on stock clutch). But the only time I've had it engage at the top was when my clutch was dying on me.

I don't own a TC so I can't say for sure, but that doesn't sound normal to me.

My tc seems to grab up on the high end also. You don't have to travel the pedal a lot for shifts either.

That's about exactly how I would have depicted it. Again, I've only driven them for a combimed total of 45minutes, but that was my experience. It did have a very solid feel when it engaged, not like some cars I've driven with slipping/glazed clutches, so I just assumed it was normal. I agree, though, uptake was high enough that it was worth noticing

The turbo SS I drove, the clutch released at the very top. And it had a weird feel to it, it was light as hell and easy (too easy) to press down. I got back in my SC and I kept slipping the clutch because I was so used to the light clutch in the TC..

light clutch pedal means you won't kill your leg in stop and go traffic.

( It does seem springy )when I took one for a test drive, I felt the same way as you.
Made the SS\SC stock clutch feel good

It feels about the same as my SS/SC did as far as when it engages but it is allot lighter on my SS/TC. I know with both the cars when racing I can keep the gas pedal to the floor and just a tap on the clutch with my foot and out of the 100+ comp shifts I have only missed twice. So I would have to say that is pretty high, I hope I am understanding your question and this helps.

Dude,
Do you actually think there is a problem with your clutch after 380 miles. Seems like you are looking for **** to complain about.

Just wondering how you would get the only Eff'd up TC of all that have been produced?

Oh wait, maybe GM messed them all up because they want all of those people complaining to them! Come on dude - use your head!!! This guy is

For people who think they may have mechanical issues, the SS/TC is a seriously over engineered car with a ton of testing. GM has been race testing Cobalts for ever. This engine has also been out for a long period of time already (Solstice/ Sky). You have to realize most if not all of the bugs have been worked out already.

The issues you will have (if any) will be related to fit and finish/ build quality - but I highly doubt mechanical unless you are beating the effing snot out of it all day/ everyday!

????????

Can you you point out specifically which part of my post is a "complain"? I reread it twice and I am pretty sure I am simply asking if that is normal for this specific car, as its catch point is higher than other manual cars I've driven when new. May be you need to calm down and take some prozac.

Thanks to all the helpful posts, I think I can conclude this is general the case with this car.

^^uh...thanks? he's just looking for validation of an observation. Pretty sure he wasn't trying to complain. Others have had the same observation. If you take a second to look around the forum, there's alot dumber questions than that (maybe even some of my own).

It's Friday. Smile a little

my ss/sc clutch grabs very high, people that have driven the car are surprised at how high it grabs, and has been like that since they day i picked it up.

the ss/tc has the same tranny, and while i don't know for sure i would assume the same clutch? i wouldn't worry about it grabbing high though, unless it wasn't always like that.
