Thread revive: I am going to be replacing this next week. Ordered a new HPFP and high pressure fuel line from rockauto.

Now question that hasnt been really answered in here, do I need to remove the roller to clean and relube or can I skip doing that and just replace the pump? 2nd question, no one has mentioned the torque specs for tightening the fueline and mounting bolts? What are the recommended torque specs?

Don't have to but id recommend it, i do it for any car I take the pump out of. I would recc consider also just getting a new one since it is a roller bearing that is under a lot of force just to be safe. High pressure mounting bolts are torque to yield technically, and are supposed to be replaced with new bolts. Thread bores should be clean and grease/oil free and new bolts get blue medium strength locktite. Bolt torque on the pump bolts is 71inlbs and then 50*. Your cam needs to be turned where the roller will rest on the center of a flat between lobes before installing the pump and tightening the bolts that way you don't bind and damage the pump when installing since you will be compressing the spring for the pump. Fuel rail feed pipe fittings (pump to rail) are torqued at 24ft lbs. Fuel pump feed pipe (tank to pump) is 22ft lbs.

What do you mean relube the roller?? Everything is lubed with engine oil, the o ring and gasket are a must so that you don't get an oil leak

True but its good practice to take it out and clean the old oil and carbon build up on it and the bore. Then oil it on both sides with something like lucas or assembly lube. Also you lube the new o ring but not the metal gasket.

Gotcha. Probably should have do that to the roller. Didn't see no junk or anything obvious, probably because I change the oil every 3000 miles

Usually its pretty clean when I have customers that do that but even then there is some buildup sometimes. Also the spot that the pump rests on the back side of the roller also wears over time. Idk how much it has to wear to cause issues but if I see one that is indented I replace it.
