Cuda has it correct. Intake and Downpipe, THEN tune. Charge pipes and exhaust aren't necessary to retune for.

As soon as I got my DP on, I gained about 1 psi and I could feel the power gain before the PCM relearned and set my boost back to 14.5-14.7. The DP will effect the MAF indirectly by freeing up more boost.

According to Vince neither is a DP a reason to re-tune. He already said he did every possible set up and the intake was the only thing that needed a re-tune. Now if you wanted to squeeze every last drop of hp out of your tune then do it last.

Ok I have a question. With the trifecta tune does it completely replace the old ecu? If so vould i just buy the trifecta tune for a stock car and then when i add stuff send it in and get it re tuned?

Theres the regular tune that get written over your stock tune and then theres the multi-tunes that theyre starting to put out. The regular is on all the time and the multi-tunes are activated via the Competition, Cruise, ect... This allows you to have your stock tune for normal cruising and what not but when some punk is asking for it you can simply press the traction control button and have another 50hp+ on tap to lay the smack down on their candy asses. Best part is the Tech 2 scanner the dealer uses will report back as the car being stock. And yes as you make upgrades to the car you can get it retuned and there is no need to send your ecu in.

If anyone is interested id like to put together links of each parts and each company makes them with a price.

EX would be like

ZZP Downpipe-link to zzp's downpipe-Price.

So forth.

Intercooler>Cat back

The stock cat back is 2.75 inches mostly.

Really don't worry about an intake honestly, it should go something like this:

Tune and downpipe at the same time. Mainly because you have to deal with fuel retuning or you will melt the cat. Then charge piping, after that everything is the icing on the cake.

And the restriction isn't the cats on the stock downpipe...it is the crush spot by the o2 sensors that is roughly two inches big.

The biggest thing is how aggressive your tune is. If you don't add a personal touch to the tune and let someone tune from across the country do your logs, you are missing out on the best parts of this engine IMO.

Anyhoo...intakes are NOT the end all and tell all people on this site would suck a dick for. They are NOT. Never have been. People just want more noise and would rather point out their awesome intake when they pop the hood rather than a stock box.

Louder does not equal faster.

More timing does

Don't forget to update the Trifecta section with the new multi-tune or perhaps the mulit-tune's ability to fly under the Tech2 radar.

Extra ECU no longer necessary really... esp if you've got the normal mode set as the stock tune anyway.

we need to talk to one of the mods and see if we can get it as a sticky just in case that's not something they want on the site, idk why they would delete the other guy's post but i guess they did

Your right on most of this and wrong on some other things.

Tuning across the country i assume you are refering to trifecta. However with the dealer program being able to data log negates your claims of tuning across the country.

No different then a HPtuner logging and having a HPtuner from somewere else send over a tune.

i can understand mods deleting posts like this because at the end of the day the people who run this site are in it for their best interest and pissing off other vendors=less money=not in their interests

Ya well I would think that they would want the actuall vendors to put up their own stuff not a regular member. Thats probly why its gone

Eh...order is subject to opinion...I mean obviously you'll make more power and run better if you tune after you mod but not bad. I just wish people would stop referring to it as Learn Down...soo misleading..it's not like there's some magical switch in the computer that turns it on or off...you'll never "get rid" of Learn Down.

yup, in my opinion, here's how I would do and here's what I am doing

- Downpipe
- Intake
- Charge Pipes
- Tune

- Clutch

Besides "noise" there is a benefit to an intake, more air for the turbo = quicker turbo spool. Intakes have been proven to add HP/TQ - it's just they screw with our fuel trims so damn much that it's better to leave the stock box on.

This is just a guide line people can follow, Its not the bible. If you have a different way to do it thats 100% exceptable. this is just made to give some guidence so somone who owns a LNF doesnt go out and start buying unecesary mods and posting "why isnt my car fast" threads

You have to understand that Vince will never tune a 116 trapping car with the stock turbo like some us have had with HPTuners. Not saying it is bad, but he has some liability and has to keep things safe. Just like if I tune someone, it will never be as aggressive as a tune I would put on my own car. You gotta play things safe and that is why you will never see the fastest car running Trifecta's tune. Period.

Same goes if you call up some ******* across the country with HPT. Someone does not want to be liable for someone else blowing their car up. I know I wouldn't.

Now get off Trifecta's nuts long enough to be able to tell the differences between your own pubes and his.(Not taking a pot shot at you Vince, in any way shape or form. I think the breakthroughs you have going on are excellent, keep up the amazing work.)

I have respect for your knowledge steve, however your downfall is cracking pitiful jokes to make the public laugh...

Im not on trifectas nuts. i have even stated numerous times that people can get a more agressive tune with a SKILLED hptuner. I guess thats unclear to you..oh well..

and to generalize Vince like that is pretty rude imo. please leave your negative comments out of my thread. i've given great opinions on both hptuners and Trifecta...its seems all the "hate" is coming from Hptuners swinging dicks, almost like they are threatend.

Like i said, keep it out of here. un-biased opinions only. i've listed both and their pros and cons..thats called unbiased..you are biased..stay out. If you want public giggles and laughs from mindless puppets go make your own thread.
